What about the fight that was perpetrated by adults? At least according to the news report, one of the 3 fights was between adults.
I am more concerned about large groups of kids running en mass across areas of the park causing folks to feel unsafe and the risk of getting injured by getting knocked down or causing mass panic amonst the GP. TWO of the three fights were caused by youth.

Were groups of adults (21+) running around the park causing chaos? Was the adult fight amonst groups of adults or between 2 adults?

I don't agree with this proposal - I visited Haunt unsupervised for years with friends before I turned 18 and I'm sure countless others did too. I don't think it's fair to punish the well-behaved lot of teens by making them choose between going with Mommy and Daddy or staying home, because of the actions of a few troublemakers. More importantly, it seems like bad business to bar a substantial amount of your target demographic from your event for the same reason.

I think the better solution is to raise ticket prices and do away with the flood of low-price ticket deals the park always puts out during Haunt. Higher ticket prices automatically reduce crowd size and would accomplish the same goal of keeping some teens away but without setting a hard anti-teenager rule. Better yet, it allows the park to still make money even with reduced crowds.

That said, I'm still trying to figure out the issue KD's PR department has at hand: how do you fight the bad press about Haunt's safety right now? It seems like a catch-22. If they stay quiet, the social media outcry will continue to fester and grow. If they speak up and talk about the safety measures they've taken at Haunt this year, that legitimizes the problem and airs it out even more. What would you do if you were in the PR department's shoes?

The park is better off acknowledging the problem and taking steps to address it than to sit back and pretend it's not an issue.

If I was in their shoes, I'd honestly be looking at putting up more cameras and getting facial recognition software in place for the entry gates to block entry for those who have been in trouble at the park before. The troublemakers are a very small percentage of park goers, and policies should be specifically targeted to keep those people out of the park. Putting blanket policies in place that affect all the well behaved teens is bad policy and will deter attendance of people the park wants to attract.

Beef up security by adding more guards, at least on days when the crowd is expected to be large. It's not rocket science. We don't need to turn KD into a surveillance society to fix the problem.

Even by having more security present it won't fix the issue of 100 teens deciding they wanted to move Fight Club onto the property.

It won't but it will hopefully stop an altercations sooner. Nothing's perfect. I guess I see 'facial recognition' and balk pretty hard.

Facial recognition does not work that effectively yet to where an amusement park can let in 40,000 people and have the ability to weed out ne'er-do-wells.

The easiest ways to handle it are quick and efficient communication along with proper surveillance measures in place. I can tell you right now Kings Dominion does not have anywhere near enough cameras to surveil the whole park, especially in comparison to Hersheypark, Cedar Point, or even Dorney.

That’s my thought as well. I think the best thing they can do is put a face to the park and have real people in front of a camera saying “Look, this is what happened, this is what we’re doing to fix this problem, and this is why what happened on Saturday shouldn’t be representative of the normal park experience.” People need to be reassured directly by the park that it can be trusted to be safe.

I'll be at haunt tonight and I saw on their facebook page that the 1st 2000 passholders get a Volcano pin. I'm not a pin collector but if someone would like it, i can get you one.

Woah. I would very much like one and can't get there tonight! I'd pay for it. What would you be asking?

Facial technology does work, but im sure its not cheap. Look at Disney, they notified the US Marshalls that a person they were looking for was found and they were watching him on property. Marshall service did nothing and days later he caused a mass shooting. KD and even BGW needs to ban these people from all their parks just like the mouse does as well as tresspass them so if they are found back have them arrested. Enact a mob rule where you can not walk in groups of 10 or more, and enforce it.

I can't speak for KD but BGW does ban people and if your are caught on property they press trespassing charges against you. Depending on what you do you get banned for a length of time.

Disney is also worth approximately 100 times the amount of gold kept at Fort Knox, according to a study I just made up.

For those who know this better than I do, please correct me if I'm wrong because I'm legitimately interested, but I would think a huge park like Disney would have more resources to put into facial recognition than a "smaller" park (comparatively speaking) like KD. I could be way off on that though.

All that being said, this is an incredibly dumb problem to have to deal with. Living in a society, people. Fortunately, my group always go on a Friday when it's a lot less busy and we've had no problems aside from just some annoying teens here and there, but that's more my 30 year old bitterness and jadedness than anything.

Cost would be nothing, I'm getting there at open and I expect low attendance since the fair is opening tonight. I'll let you know once I secure one.

I assumed it was a sarcastic comment about the discussion to increase security and make it safer and he was trying to be outlandish. I didn't really get it either.
