I can see the logic behind making Old Virginia a family area, which I believe is different from Planet Snoopy, which a children's area. The former is something that parents enjoy with their kids of varying ages and can also be fun for teens and adults alone (especially those who don't enjoy high-thrill attractions). The latter is primarily where parents watch their kids go on rides by themselves.
I see Candy Apple Grove as already being a family area with the current rides, games, and food offerings being aimed at kids and teens. Old Virginia could maybe be aimed more at adults or older guests with the setting, nostalgic rides, and bars/shopping.

Sure, but the attractions currently in Old Virginia are already family friendly. As @RollyCoaster pointed out, it already has White Water Canyon, Blue Ridge Tollway, Shenandoah Lumber Co., and Flying Eagles,

While I was a proponent of modernizing the karts (electric) and involving the crowd with daily lap times via screens/incentives/tracking/etc., I know that's a very rare mentality and likely not happening.

That said, a family-friendly launched coaster (coughVekomacough) that meanders through the woods like Shenandoah Lumber Co. does would be spectacular. Genuinely work hard to keep as many trees as possible, use them as near-miss elements, and keep the intensity and theme in line with the area. There's plenty of room between White Water Canyon and Grizzly without disturbing the old Dinosaurs Alive path area too much and the existing access road would help minimize impact to the area during construction.

Won't happen, but we can wish, right?

I should have stated my view a little better, not that it doesn’t have merit, rather I prefer the park be a good mix of the two all throughout. It’s something I particularly love about Hershey so much is each area you go has a fantastic mix of thrill, family, and kiddie rides.

If you check out my first suggestion it was that but a dueling/racing style. A family thrill coaster so to speak.

More so I was questioning the shuttle coaster logic. I feel like it’s far better fit. Additionally I feel OV needs something that can be a people eater. I don’t know the stats on the water rides or classic cars, and despite the lines constantly moving I feel like they have some really long wait times to take 4/2/8 people at a time. A coaster that can take 36-44 people a go round would be a huge thing for that area.

A Big Bear Mountain model of ride would be ELITE choice for the GPR/Dino's area. Super fun, super low height requirement, great reliability AFAIK... I just don't see any earthly scenario that CF/KD drops $20+ million on a family coaster like that. If Skyline's products weren't so historically riddled with downtime/straight up non-functioning, a TrailRunner would be an awesome choice... Or maybe a B&M multi-launcher along the lines of Penguin Trek, but in the out-&-back style of Big Bear Mountain would be most plausible?

And not to get too off topic, cause it's not specifically the GPR area- but on the topic of Vekoma Boomerangs, the model (Rebound) that Kings Island is installing would fit damn near perfectly in the Xtreme Skyflyer spot. Keeps the GPR area open to extra/other expansion while creating some cool sightlines with the ride's placement:

Getting through OV lines is a slog. They're all low capacity and are the sole reason I spend money on a Fast Lane for my 42in kiddo (don't get me started on how frustrating that is). I agree 100% on a people eater as a replacement, regardless of what it is.

While we all speculate about renovating/revamping Old Virginia, here's my take on the most realistic short-term possibility. With the wing coaster coming next year, possibly a new paint/retheme for Project 305 and rumors of a chicken shack renovation, there is so much going on in the upcoming off season, and maybe even during this season in that area. Even with rumors of minor or major upgrades to FoF or Backlot themeing, and/or a new Anaconda queue entrance (opening up the trees to watch anaconda from a new seat location would be really nice) I think there's a strong possibility that most or all of Jungle X is CLOSED for Haunt this year. This will be a huge blow to Haunt, taking out one scare zone and an entire section of popular rides that otherwise is always open for Haunt, but I think this is extremely likely.

Now, focusing on Grand Prix closing, I think in exchange, KD may keep Grizzly open for Haunt, which always has great night rides, but is never able to open because of GrimmWoods. It's probably past time for Grand Prix to close permanently, as it's been rumored for years anyway, but I can see some very minor fencing modifications and come Haunt, use some or all of the Grand Prix racetrack for a rerouted GrimmWoods queue line, while Grizzly can finally remain open as the Gulch store and Grizzly plaza can allow guests to get to Grizzly.

With so much going on elsewhere in the park, I don't see major additions or GPR replacement coming to Old Virginia for at least another year, but I do think it's a strong possibility that they use the racetrack with minor fencing mods to allow Grizzly to open longer this year while they close down Jungle X earlier. Not exactly a fair exchange, but better than nothing. Also to compensate a Jungle X closure, maybe even add a new Haunt attraction in the front half of the water park in a temporary building/tent (which could also play into Haunt starting one week later this year). Thoughts?

idk yall I think they should still use the that area for a few flats and a hyper. Candy apple grove has always seemed more of like the family area, the plot next to delerium is perfect for a family coaster with dodgem, the swings and bad apple all right there and on top of that you already have family’s spilling out of snoopy.

Removal of this attraction is an improvement to the park. It was severely out of theme and another piece of Paramount damage corrected.

Will the empty track may sit there for a while?

That leaves
Stunt Coaster
Action Theater
Skycoaster

As the remaking Paramount eyesores.

Stunt coaster's a great ride - It doesn't fit Jungle X Theming, but Jungle X wasn't a thing then - but what is skycoaster?

Jungle X was Congo then. Stunt Coaster never fit the theme of the area.
Kind of- Congo didn't really extend that far- it ended at Kilimanjaro. Anaconda wasn't really part of Congo.. FOF was already there when BLSC replaced Diamond Falls.

As ugly of an eyesore it is, when it was operational I kinda enjoyed the Action Theater. Especially when they did the Jurassic World preview back in 2015-ish.

What do you mean? In what way was Anaconda not really part of Congo? And if Congo ended at Kilimanjaro (which technically isn’t even true based on park maps labeling FOF as part of Congo), that would still include BLSC. It’s smack in the middle of the area.
