This may be a stupid question, but is this a water ride or is the water just for effect? Do you get wet?

IMG_6716.jpeg This image is from Intamin’s website. If you think of a dive coaster, the water feature doesn’t splash the train, but there’s an “optional” element where it can splash bystanders.

Edit: I’ll add — the animation of Georgia Surfer sure makes it look like the optional splash feature is not part of it.

It seems kind of stupid to me to have all that water and then not have it splash the train. I mean... honestly I don't like rides that get you soaked, so I'd probably enjoy this, but still don't get why it's got all that water and is also called a "surf coaster"

I'm curious how will SFOG customize the water features whille operating it alongside with what would it look like in reality. There are 4 different water effects that is stated on Georgia Surfer's fact sheet. The official annimation shows a combination of both a vertical wave wall and a low cutting splash

How will SFOG customize these new water features?

Hmm, my guess will be “off” it’s hard to be optimistic about something like that which is a bummer but boy do I welcome being pleasantly surprised with this park.

I do believe that being the case since it can opperate during the cooler months with the water effects turned off. It will be switched on during the summer to cool off guests. Aquaman at SFOT on the other hand can't cuz that's a water ride while Georgia Surfer is a launch coaster that uses its signature water features as a visual effect

Oh I mean I don’t have faith SFOG will maintain them well sorry I did not mean they would not add any.

I spent several days at SFOG this past week for my kids spring break, and I have to admit, I was astounded by the lack of progress on the new surf coaster.

Granted, there's still a couple of months till summer officially starts. But as they're still focusing just on site grading/leveling here in April - let alone all other aspects needed, especially eventual testing of a brand new Intamin product - I certainly hope this one is not delayed till 2025, but where SF continues to actively promote it through the summer, all to drive 2024 pass sales 😟.

SFOG is actually waiting for Cobb County to issue permits in order to construct GA Surfer. They can't do it until the County gives them the green light to start vertical construction. The park is drilling for the footers currently. I doubt it being delayed for 2025 but at least there is some progress happening.

Which, just to be clear, is reasonable and expected and Six Flags Over Georgia is at fault for not anticipating and coordinating the required approvals in time to allow for a reasonable construction schedule.

Not saying you're disagreeing with this point, just want to make it crystal clear for anyone passing through who may not be aware of the standard construction planning and approval process.

GA Surfer has footers being installed alongside with doing work of what looks like that is related to the water features. The source for the images I got were from the Six Flags subreddit

I can still see the blue footers for mine train that were from the splashwater falls days

Considering mine train is still running; I am going with no, it will not have its footers bulldozed.
The blue footers are in the first picture above (in post 94), behind the Redit logo.
