RE: Food & Wine Festival 2013 Rumors

I(even being under 18) hope and think this event should be 18+(or 21+) for two reasons. 1: Kids can't even partake in half of the event. 2: what kids would even want to spend the whole day at a theme park eating? None of them

RE: Food & Wine Festival 2013 Rumors

This was never thought out. The park had no plans of any type fo festival until like a few days before they announced hence the reason why there was no name for this festival when it was announced. The park just threw out an idea under pressure and now they are going to have trouble delivering.

I said this in another thread, this Wine and Food Festival has been in the works for months, maybe longer.

Longer. It was anything but a last minute decision.

RE: Food & Wine Festival 2013 Rumors

No need to flesh it out, but that was what I was told so I just went with that, however I still think they didn't do too much planning for it before the meeting simply because why announce an event but no name? I mean, the idea was probably brought up thought about for a bit a couple months before hand, but no real thought could have gone to it. But if I am wrong oh well, they still can't deliver.

Also, I don't think the wine stomping photo op will return, since they will have this festival in Spring, since that area can be used for this event. For Illuminights and Howl-o-Scream the glow stand, and for Christmas Town the baby Jesus. Just a guess though!

Like I said, there was very little to no planning done so far, just crazy ideas. This Chef, will have to basically do all the planning and putting together. Its almost as if they want to have someone to blame if things go wrong.

RE: Food & Wine Festival 2013 Rumors

The park had a goal for 2013. Hold a spring time event equivalent to Illuminights, Howl-o-Scream, and Christmas Town. This festival is obviously not going to cost no where near what Verbolten did.

Sky, in all fairness, you are right but only to a point. The reason they are hiring this person is to plan out this event within the period of 5 or so months. They announced an idea they had without planning a name, or any logistics obviously, they just said we are going to have a food and wine festival. That was as far as they got.

However, this Chef is going to spend the next 5 months planning and planning out every logistical detail, every little problem will be solved, or so the park is planning it that way.

My main point that makes your point invalid is EVERY event involves expenditures. EVERY enterprise on Earth plans for something that will cost them large sums of money with no guarantee they will make any return. That is how the economy works, we take risks to increase profit, some ideas don't work, others do. The things is, you say they are only planning the event in a short time? 5 months is a pretty decent time to plan things out. Right now they just need to hire a planner and think of a name.

RE: Food & Wine Festival 2013 Rumors

I really don't think this food and wine festival was announced on such short notice as you say PR. It's almost like saying "Hey guys, let's make a Halloween event so we can get more people to visit." Just no, there definitely was a lot of financial and economic research that went into this project well before the announcement. Just because there's no official name for it yet doesn't mean that this automatically was last second. Just because they need to hire a chef to plan the full financial investment into this does not mean it is last second. I seriously would rather scope the potential gains from a project like this (very similar to how Halloween events were planned in almost every park in America in the 80s and 90s) than just wing out and hire someone to handle it like you are suggesting. Sure the chef is going to coordinate the financial investment in this event, but he's very likely going to have a limited budget just like everything else in the park.

Trust me guys. It wasn't last minute. If it was, I wouldn't have known about it ages ago. Pretty solid evidence if you ask me. :p Now, just because the event has existed on paper for a while doesn't mean that they had all the details worked out. In fact, I thought it was fairly obvious at the announcement that they didn't know a lot of the specifics.

Isn't that what a head chef is supposed to do for a restaurant? I don't see BGW being any different. I'm sure one person isn't gonna do this alone either.
