So despite living in the Tampa Bay area I have not been back to SeaWorld since this ride opened and have therefore not ridden it. From what I understand the biggest complaint was the quality of the projection. Can anyone confirm or add additional problems with the ride

The hideous, temporary-looking queue, a really poor-quality ride film, very little in the way of interesting movement/effects, and a horrifically slow-moving queue were my big takeaways. It's boring, but the film was also just off-putting—odd, gitchy-feeling frame rate issues, weird camera movements, etc.

A renovated queue (with actual AC turned on, please!), a much better ride film, and better programming could go a long way. Now they just need to get their standby/non-standby ratios figured out so I'm not waiting 45 minutes with maybe like only 70 people in front of me....

Oh wow, that's crazy to hear the capacity ended up being so bad. I thought I remembered something about how the loading system was intuitive and was meant to lead to decent throughput. I could definitely see Mack urging the park to flesh out the ride to make it a better show piece for potential buyers that would be in the Orlando area.

This reminds me of Poseidon's Fury (rip) getting that hasty retheme after its first year. But I'm so glad this is happening! If they can make this a properly themed story driven experience and get operations up to the speed it's designed for, this should be a big hit for the park. And hopefully then it'll be brought over to the other parks.

This is a vast improvement over the original.

Was it passholders today or was it a soft open? I may have to make my way over tomorrow after work if it’s a soft open.

Apologies for the double post, but I don't want anyone who read the previous post to miss this: we have a POV already!

It looks VASTLY improved. Assuming it rides well and the screens look good in person, this starts to look like a much more proper "we have Soarin' at home."

Looks like an improvement in every way except for the music. The previous version’s music was very memorable (in my opinion). This version’s score complements the ride film well but it doesn’t really stand out.

Reactions: Seaworld History
After riding, I was extremely impressed on so many levels. With this experience it really did not feel like a UP&R retheme, it felt like OG SeaWorld. There was so much right. The queue was a huge upgrade from before. The LED handrails and large screen with the perfect amount of clutter, it was great. There seemed to be so much thought put into this and the small amount of time it took to reach this point is crazy. The small details are what really got me, such as the radio chatter hidden in the background music in the queue, the slight nods to SWO history in the notes, even the way the doors open to the preshow with the lights. This was much more focused on storytelling and very appreciated. Loading platform was what sold it for me. Added a second “preshow” with the blackout effect and it worked so well. I would totally say one of the best starts to a ride ever (yes I said it). Turning off the projectors to remain pitch black was perfection. Everything about the start was amazing.

Now let’s go to some negatives. The exterior could be better, it’s still relatively similar with some added theming. When going through wild arctic viewing, tons of open space still visible. Upgraded thematics but NOT ride control system. It is currently extremely unreliable. Bay 2 was down, bay one closed many times throughout the day. Yes it is the new attraction but the ride system is the same. The reason I was told from some of the ambassadors was the communication between the sensors and the main computer was messed up because of the thick steel. Lots of sensors were flagging and electronics kept going out such as lights and cameras. The ride itself is still not much of an upgrade. I feel as if the story falls off as soon as the ride starts. Lots of FPV type footage with not much going on and awkward transitions. Not much fire to be called fire and ice. Holy rant lol

I have to agree with everything mentioned above! This is quite the turn around.

One of my biggest issues with the ride was the transition to the start of the ride. The loud, overly mechanical sound of the ride mechanisms and the screen reveal where you can see your shadow from the projector. They took this, and made it one of the best parts of the ride. Now it's all integrated into the story and disguised by audio. In fact, they really extended the ride time with a wow moment in the 'blackout'. I have done the original EO many times, and this even made me surprised! The simple addition of the tvs in the loading platform was a genius choice.

I recommend if you haven't experienced this yet, don't watch a POV! Go in blind. Good work SeaWorld, more where this came from please!

I just got two rides on this after going in blind. Seaworld, keep up the FANTASTIC work! I waited thru a 45 minute queue (posted at 105), and wanted to go again. I can’t say that about the prior version of this ride.
The queue for the ride is unrecognizable from its prior form. Granted it was a low bar to clear, but still. Even better, both bays are operational today, meaning the line is actually moving. When I got off, the line had vanished down to a walk on. I would go again, but the orca show just finished. And pipeline is a walk on.
