The sign looks sorta gross right now, really hoping that they will try to age it a little more and bring back the missing graffiti in it's proper form.

As fans it's always hard to say goodbye to the past, there is no denying that the park's quality and standards have dropped dramatically in recent years with the emphasis on thrill rides and constant new additions taking the priority over rich and immersive themed environments. However, despite its ugliness and inability to blend into its' surroundings I'm very happy that they made the change.

Based on the current ride line-up, Escape from Pompeii is the most themed ride in the park, and one of the most themed rides in the chain as a whole. BGW is notorious for letting themed rides decay and rot away until it's too late, and the constant pumping in of money for this ride through the new boats, regularly repainting the splashdown area with that beautiful bright Carl Lum blue, and now this sign gives me hope that this ride is going to stick around for a long time. I will always support re-investing in old attractions, rather than letting them sit and become irrelevant, it would be a shame if this place turned into NewPompeii. The park is not a museum, and many of these attractions that made us fall in love with the park are becoming older, and small changes like this are bound to happen in order to keep them fresh.

If the sign isn't aged, and they fumble the bag by hastily throwing together some awful-looking "Escape From" tacky sign above the Pompeii lettering, then I'll be upset. As of now, it looks fine, it'll age with the weather and that Virginia humidity in no time. Now only if they could just do something about that Sundial...

The misters have worked in years, they are almost buried now

Took a closer look at the new sign.
On the side you can see a small area where the top layer broke off when they installed it. (Next to the tree branch)
Also, there is a gap where the pieces come together in the “brickwork”.

It’s not that easy to spot though.

Are we sure the old sign was real bricks?

I certainly have my doubts now. Could it be plaster?

Look at the thing at Pompeii to see if it says roman rapids, if it doesn't on the front see if you can see it on the back
