RE: Entwined: Tales of Good and Grimm (2012 to Present)

My problem with the new stage is that it seems too... one dimensional... there is no second level like there used to be. It's just a big flat slab.

This is what struck me the most the first time I walked in this season; the room is just cavernous now, and in need of the visual break that the old stage provided.

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good and Grimm (2012 to Present)

The singers - some are good, some are okay. (Why is the "main" red riding hood the main one, again!?!?!?)

The dancers - wish there were more dancing in the show. They're obviously more than qualified.

The jugglers/acrobats - I'm glad they have more stagetime in the new version of the show. I SO wish they had a bigger part!! (I heard something about one of them having a world title?!)

The actors - Hansel is so nice! I wish he had more of a part in the show, especially.

The wolf - needs a makeover. highschool mascot, much?!

The story - again, needs a makeover. More dialogue (like, maybe some slapstick scenes or something?!) would make it so much nicer to watch. None of the bullshit fart jokes like in Wunderbarn, though.

Speaking of this, they've had a new fairy godmother for a few weeks now. Her voice is amazing. If you haven't seen it recently, it's almost worth going out of your way to catch the show just to check her out. Almost...:p

The last thing Scott needs to do is be even more heavy-handed.

To clarify:: Some *well done* slapstick scenes ;)

I spoke with some cast members when I saw the show last week. Apparently two Fairy Godmothers have been sharing the role this whole year - same with many of the other characters. (There is a "main" Red and at least one other one, for example. I want to say I've seen three?)

The acrobats change, too. There is one who is very good on the barrel, and one who is not quite as confident.

There has been a new narrator (Boots?), too. Apparently the old one broke his leg and had to end the season early or something.

This is what happens when someone tells a performer to 'break a leg'...and they take it literally! :p

I noticed on the BG website, that there are no shows listed for the weekend of September 8 and 9. Is BG planning on putting something in teh Festhuas for HOS??

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good and Grimm (2012 to Present)

Yes, there will be. See the first post in the Howl-O-Scream 2012 thread for the list of attractions.

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good and Grimm (2012 to Present)

So, I saw the new version of Entwined for the first time while not holding a camera today and, well, I was astonished. I don't know if looking through the lens of camera makes shows seem better, but man, Entwined was horrible today. I know it has always been bad, but aside from the cast, there wasn't a single good aspect about the show. Previously I felt like a simple relocation to the Globe would be fine and it would be a reasonably good show. Well, what I saw today, no matter where you put it, would be a simply awful show. It has never fit in its location, the story has never been clear, the speaking parts have always been mediocre at best, but, what I saw today was far, far worse than how the show debuted. I almost feel I should congratulate the park on somehow making their train wreck of a show into a complete disaster.

I still dont understand the story after watching it 5 times, and its a little loud

So they pretty much nuked the train wreck in hopes it would improve slighty, so glad that they feel the need to prove the USSR military policy is a failure 35 years AFTER the Berlin Wall fell...

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good and Grimm (2012 to Present)

I'd still like to think Entwined would be okay in the Globe, but I've never watched it closely even though I've sat through it twice, so I dunno. Definitely it's still TOO LOUD.

well entwined's last show for the year is tomorrow, chances it will return to the festhaus for 2013? or even returning at all?

I haven't heard for sure, but if I had to guess, the answer would be that it does return for 2013. It would be a waste of money if they only kept the show for one year. But who knows, Scott may decide to revamp it again.

Also, does anyone have any pics of the trussing/lighting for Entwined? I haven't had a chance to ask this yet; but am very interested in what they were using for stage lights.

I'm not certain, but I think they are some type of light bulbs.

If they had to make Das Festhaus kidsiderate they should have done a show incorporating schnappi. It would be quite entertaining and probably better than what there is now, even though I still don't mind Entwined as much as this site hates it.

Very descriptive :p. But seriously, if anyone has pictures, that would help me out.

I think it was a waste of their money to begin with.

I couldn't agree with you more.

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good and Grimm (2012 to Present)

Forgive me for resurrecting this beast, but I've been meaning to address something that's been bugging me for a while. While there is certainly a lot of rational criticism of this show, I kind of bugs me to see people state over and over again that it has no "story." I mean, it has a pretty obvious story. In fact, I'd say it has more of a "story" (in that one scene ties into and advances the other) then pretty much any other show I've seen at BG in the past few years.

I'm not sure if people are being willfully obtuse in their criticism of this aspect of the show, or if they're just so blinded by their general distaste for the show that they just lump in the "no story" line into the barrage of bashing everything else.

Anyway, just wanted to get that off my chest. ;)

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good and Grimm (2012 to Present)

I think the show's location is bad, the show isn't really set up right for a dinner show. The show would've been much better in the globe. That being said, the show has obvious flaws, the acting and singing are not that great and it's way too little kid oriented for an eatery where most of the park eats. the show in the festhaus should not be a kiddy show, but an all-around show for everyone. Oh and it's one of the ugliest stages i have ever seen.
