We’ll probably start seeing flowers and wreaths and candles start appearing at Dollywood’s front gate soon. But one has to wonder what kind of permanent memorial they’ll have for her in the future

Unsure if they had already planned to open tomorrow, but if not, this is such an amazing move on their end to honor her legacy.

They were already scheduled to be open tomorrow.
Are you sure? I see they were closed today and plan to be closed on Thursday. Is it normal for them to be open on Wednesdays?
Dollywood was closed Tuesdays and Thursdays when I visited this spring, I believe that's their normal off-peak schedule
Yes it us a weird schedule but it's their normal one for off peak travel.

Dollywood park president's statement from preopening this morning. My understanding is cars were lined up for parking before 7 this morning. I know the park is expected to be packed to capacity probably at least through the weekend. I can't imagine the mixed emotions of staff morning her loss while also having to deal with those crowds but I know many wouldn't have it any other way.

I hope that her imagination library outreach will continue for generations, steered by individuals whose hearts are in the right place and can navigate the seas of uncertainty to ensure every kid has something wholesome to read while helping to limit the literacy and critical thinking crisis we're finding ourselves in.
I personally enjoy reading - my love for it started when I was a kid, and I was known to ignore my teachers while reading books in the back of the classroom (sometimes I'd switch between several books at a time if multiple caught my attention).
As an adult, this love of reading has served me well - it's helped me try to get a firmer grasp on all the little pieces that have gotten us to where we are, for better or worse.
If these libraries and the book shipping program remain to provide kids an opportunity to fall in love with reading, and also putting them on the path to becoming critical thinkers, I believe it will far outlast other aspects of Dolly's legacy, as great as they may also be.
