Does anyone know what those portraits were originally supposed to do? I know they reprogrammed the lighting on it, but I've always wondered why it just sits there.

Unless I'm completely insane (possible) I'm pretty sure they used to morph from the happy portraits you see into something else (skeletons?). Also, I'm pretty sure there was a nice version of Ludwig that changed into the evil portrait you see today.

No, they used to fade while Ludwig's lit up more, showing his takeover of power.

This was definitely what happened and still happens I want to say. I rode it a few weeks ago and it did just that. After Ludwig yells "It'll be a BLAST!", the Mother and Father recede into darkness, and Ludwig's portrait becomes even more illuminated than before.

It wasn't working last weekend and I don't believe I've seen it working at all so far this year. It's a shame so many of the effects are so inconsistent. Speaking of inconsistent effects, has anyone seen the scene 1 fog working the last few weekends?

^I saw the fog working a couple of weekends ago. It wasn't a lot of fog, but it was working.

They should have a person stick their head out of the tower from time to time everyday. Thank would be SO COOL!

The fog was working in scene 1 last time I rode it which was about 3 weeks ago. There wasn't too much of it, but it was noticeable. I'm going tomorrow I tell you what I see. By the way the portrait effect still works it is just a little less noticeable because they turn you around quickly.

The fire alarm for DarKastle went off yesterday, the alarm sounds like a self-destruct warning alarm. Very neat and interesting. Also to note, local Fire Department and authorities responded to the alarm and were on the scene. Not sure all that went down exactly though.

When there is a fire how do you evacuate when you are in restraints?

OK, I'm sure others could elaborate, but I assume the ride would stop, the leg bar thingy will let go, and you are directed through one of the emergency exits. Is this correct PR?

What time yesterday? We were in the park until 8pm and didn't see or hear of anything.

In the case of a fire alarm, a big red box that says "FIRE" pops up on the ride control screen and and instructs the operator to release the lap bars and pop the RV doors once the fire has been confirmed. It shows which alarm went off and what area of the building. The alarm causes an E-Stop so the house lights rise so guests can see themselves out. Ideally, the guests should be able to find their way out by reading the signs in the building.

Any fire alarm is automatically received in Security Dispatch and they in turn dispatch the fire department. Standard operating procedure for them to respond to any alarm.

This isn't big news or anything, but when I visited on 7/31, they were routing us through a separate corridor (I think the Quick Queue line), instead of the pre-show room. I was told one of the automatic doors was broken.
