I voted for Gartensburg Castle, but I would have preferred simply "Neuschwanstein Castle." It would be an accurate name considering the real castle upon which the building was based, and could be a tribute to DarKastle's lore without directly referencing the ride.

It will be missed. No visit to the park was complete for me without a ride on DarKastle.

I don’t want to be the “awww heck no” guy, because good flats are a great addition to any park. But I feel as though taking down the DarKastle building for flats is a bad move. Especially with it’s close proximity to so many others. On top of that if Madrid is a new hamlet they will need more to fill out that area.

Finding a way to use the space for a dark ride should be the use of the building. It would be a nice symmetry to the park to have one over there. The other thing, to me, it the park would feel too “plug and play” with its attractions and not really innovative and one of a kind feeling.

To me that’s what makes BGW a great place. There’s a lot of “one of a kind” attractions and shows there which you don’t find elsewhere.

They can try to rename it all they want, but we are all still going to call it DarKastle.

I think retheming already started when they pulled the wolves to create Santa's fortress of solitude.

I like the name “NewKastle”. It reminds me of “Neuschwanstein” since that name means “new swan on the stone (or rock)“. I think any American pronunciation of Gartensburg sounds horrible, as does Oktoberfest Palaste. I also think that a name tying into Oktoberfest doesn’t seem to fit a castle.

It's a shame they never spent the money to upgrade the projectors and redo the movie. I've heard rumors of stuff being broke on Verbolten show building. I guess with Seaworld its just going to keep getting worse

Time to move to the Defunct Attractions Thread. R.I.P. DarKastle, you will be missed... . The Building is such a large footprint. Judging by google earth, only Das Festhaus appears larger. Obviously the short term plan involves the building. I wonder what the longer term holds for that large piece of real estate...

We thought we'd say goodbye to Curse of DarKastle with this final ride (digitally of course). The ride building will transform into a special events venue starting this year. While the ride maintained a loyal following over the last 13 years, we will be able to now offer new & exciting opportunities for Howl-O-Scream, Christmas Town & other events. With that said, we want you to choose the name for the new event space. Which would you prefer: Gartensburg Castle, NewKastle or Oktoberfest Palaste? I was unaware of Catapult's history but I would still prefer to see them use the building in an innovative way as opposed to putting just flats in or in place of the building.
