It’ll be great when all the parks have to shut down again because of selfish assholes not obeying CDC guidelines at woefully irresponsible businesses without any interest in enforcing them. ?

@Zachary This look like pre-pandemic pictures; are we certain they were taken recently? Otherwise, that seems irresponsible on the park for not taking preventative measures. However, that is the problem with states giving parks a gqeenloght to reopen with no requirements other than capacity restrictions.

@Joe If everyone is shut down and their workforce is furloughed, no park should be actively hiring. There is a difference between keeping applications open; having people fill out an online application is one thing. I seriously doubt people are having interviews. If they are actively hiring, that seems pretty bizarre to hire someone, but not provide a start date. I would also personally feel that it is a bit reckless.

@rswashdc Do you expect them to flash the 'Coaster Tree' spot light in the sky signaling the park is prepping to reopen? No signs of life at the park does not mean the parks do not know or have planned on reopening. There are plenty of things that they can be working on in preparation for reopening. And truly, even if preparations are taking place or if they are not, that has nothing to do with discussions between the state government and the park.

All in all, we just have to play the waiting game and see what happens. Just because they are the last parks to have a set announced opening date does not mean anything significant. Each state has different requirements, phases, and goals. Right now, Virginia has determined to take their time and keep things rolling slow.

I find those photos odd in the fact that I cant see a single person with even one around their neck. Even here locally when I have been in businesses completely ignoring the mask crap you still will see at least someone with one. Without some further evdicence that those were recent I find then to be completely fake news.

Governor Northam just said he hopes to give some Phase 3 guidance to businesses next Tuesday. Phase 2 will continue until next Friday at the earliest, and the governor says the numbers are looking really good so far for Phase 3 to happen sooner rather than later.

While on the subject, does anyone have a source where Northam says amusement parks could open in Phase 3? I believe y’all, but I’m just having a hard time finding a concrete source outside of forums and social media.

"And here are the pictures from Lagoon Park. Yesterday. June 10th. Two Days after they saw their highest number of cases. Ever."

@Nicole I wasn't necessarily demanding a source. I think the source is pretty obvious. My concern was more founded in that the complete lack of social distancing and any signs of CDC requirements like masks make it seem as though these are old pictures. Like they are so terrifying that, I could believe they are old pictures because it is unbelievable that people would be doing this now.

My thought as well. Kinda like the debunked early photos of packed beaches.

Ok, so just to be clear, you're not looking for a citation as your previous post claimed @WDWRLD. You're actually calling the honestly of the source into question. That's an entirely different issue.

Park Journey has been around for a long time now and they certainly don't have a history of false reporting. They say the images are from yesterday—I can't imagine why they'd lie about it.

I find it harder to imagine that Park Journey is lying about this than I do to believe that a bunch of people in Utah think Coronavirus is a non-issue.

I'm double posting but it seems worthwhile.

Look through social media photos from Lagoon. Masks are few and far between and a good handful of selfie backdrops show little to no attempt at social distancing. I read one post from a mother who was at Lagoon with her kids who said that there was mask enforcement at the gate, but then essentially no one inside the park was wearing one.

@WDWRLD: your position seems to be that the reporting @Zachary cited is questionable because it doesn’t match your preconceived notions and/or view of how you wish things were. You personal and limited experience is hardly evidence that an established site is peddling misleading pictures. Conspiracy theories are not valid or intellectually rigorous evidence.

Wow, Busch Gardens Tampa is off to a great start. ?

Here comes that second wave! ?? Gotta thank all the selfish, entitled assholes for the pain we’re about to go through again.

I have heard SeaWorld is just as bad. However, that doesn't surprise me considering SeaWorlds approach to everything is beyond relaxed. At this point, I don't think people care about feeling safe. I believe that parks should want to enforce these things or else they will inevitably forced to shut down again. These CDC guidelines should be enforced just as strictly as health codes for restaurants are.

To be honest I'm really not sure what percentage of the country cares anymore. We might get lucky and summer helps keep numbers down long enough for a treatment to become available. Has anyone heard how legoland has been? They've been mask optional from the start. I would hope people are respectful of people's space at least.

Leave it to SEAS to fuck it up for everyone. From the videos I’ve seen of Universal, their parks have done a great job of strictly enforcing mask-wearing and social distancing. But as they say, one bad apple spoils the bunch, and if SEAS continues to mismanage the situation like this (especially once BGW opens) I’m afraid it’ll make the industry as a whole look unsafe.

Unfortunately not. There are still plenty of people in this area who think the virus is a liberal hoax or some other view that doesn’t give the virus proper concern.
