Yes, like the frying pan. Skillet is incredibly showy. I have seen them three times, but I would not go out of my way to see them myself. They say they are a (not strictly) Christian band, but I was never able to make out any of the lyrics. They are essentially a Christian Screamo band that just so happens to scream things like "Jesus" every now and then.

If you want to look them up, their song "Monster" is pretty good. Now that I think of it, I know many people on these forums that might actually like them.

Edit: In fact, one specifically told me that BG should have Screamo. Well, here you go. Screamo with a bit of "Jesus".

Another Concert announcement.
Newsboys, Hawk Nelson, and Ryan Stevenson on May 8
Lee Greenwood on July 4

Does BGW just own Lee Greenwood or something? Or have some really good dirt to get him so many times for July 4?

I must really be getting old, I have honestly never heard of any of these people.

I'm sure you've heard Lee Greenwood's God Bless the USA. He's far from "young"

We saw him at BW in 2014. He said he was glad to be back, and that he hadn't performed at BG before that in many, many years. Guess he enjoyed it. Or they paid really well. Or both.

Yes, it appears Glory in the Gardens will be returning, but it only seems to be a weekend-long event this year:

The popular concert series is back with six acts over two days, May 7-8. Glory at the Gardens combines some of the best Christian-inspired musicians with the park’s family-friendly atmosphere for a perfect mix of music and adventure.

Who's Performing:
May 7: Discipline, Family Force 5, Skillet
May 8: Ryan Stephenson, Hawk Nelson, Newsboys

As stated earlier, Lee Greenwood is also on the park's special event lineup for July 4th.

Skillet would be the one band out of all of those id be willing to go see, que disappointment "Sigh"

While I don't share SWstevo's enthusiasm, I do think it is great news for the park that these events are coming back. It shows that the park is managing their resources better. It also shows that there is some money to spend now. Hopefully this means the end of duck taped lights and dollar store decorations.

I wonder what their plans are for the future. If Festhaus Park is getting any of the rumored upgrades for special events, that could possibly change concerts for years to come.

Back in the day, so I am told, Busch Gardens handled capacity (and funding) of the Royal Palace performances by charging a nominal fee of 5-10 dollars. However, they had big, even currrent names for the time such as Patsy Cline, George Jones, The Oak Ridge Boys, etc. They even had John Denver perform on July 4th (Take Me Home, Country Roads).

I don't really want to see the park create up-charges like that, but they might be running out of choices if they want any big names. I hope that they at least look over all of those options before choosing the easiest way, which might anger frequent park-goers.

Actually, I would prefer an upcharge model if they pulled in better talent. All kidding aside, every year their line up of acts fall into two categories:

A. WHO???

or

B. WGAF/WGAS

All the bands listed from the Royal Palace days I'd pay to see now - even the Oak Ridge Boys. I'd pay XX dollars to see someone with some juice. At this point, a typical funnel cake band (Smashmouth, Sugar Ray, etc.) would be a step in the right direction compared to the typical offerings of the last few years. Instead, we get a literal who's who of shit I'd never listen to and certainly have no interest in seeing live.

I still listen to records i have upgraded from 8 tracks to cassete and CD but no mp3 player or I pod talk about being old school....
