These coasters are rough as heck and not enjoyable at all. Why would you ride them over the smooth coasters like Apollo's and Griffin? The smoothness difference is night and day. I've only ridden Patheon once and can't remember how smooth it was.

Are there people out there that actually enjoy them and don't have a headache after riding them? Or are you just riding them because they are there and it's a fun experience without really criticizing ride comfort and comparing them to the coasters that are really smooth?

Not trying to ragebait. I really want to hear people's thoughts. Obviously the title is a bit clickbaity though. Do you actually enjoy these coasters and not get a headache, and how do you compare the smoothness of them to the smooth coasters I mentioned?

After riding Houdini at GAdv this past weekend, the Busch parks would really benefit from having something like that here.

They're great family attractions that anyone can ride.
The park can really go all out with the theming
They don't take up much space.
They're pretty reliable. No 3D movies that'll look dated in 10 years. No VR that makes people motion sick.
There are only 2 of them operating in North America. They'd be pretty unique to the region

Yeah a new coaster is great, but the park needs more than just roller coasters. Coasters take up lots of room and involve clear cutting surrounding forests. Coasters don't really appeal to everyone like a high capacity family friendly flat would.
 
Even if I think it’s possibly on borrowed time, Houdini has always been one of my favorite rides at Great Adventure and it’s a ride that is truly made for everyone. My ex HATED rides of all kinds, I’d generally be going on everything with her little brother, but Houdini is the one ride in the park she would actually get on. Could definitely use similar installations in more places.

Alpengiest is personally my favorite ride because of how it whips me around. I usually walk right on as well, only making it better. I brace myself during the cobra roll and the brake run to keep myself from hitting my head in the back, but I do really just ride it because it's fun and it doesn't give me a headache unless I'm dehydrated. I ride Loch Ness in the back to minimize the roughness. Verbolten does give me a headache, but I still think it's a fun ride with good capacity. I personally don't really like invadR, but from my experience wooden roller coasters are always rough. I've only ridden InvadR, thunderbolt at SFNE, and racer 75 though, so correct me if I'm wrong.

What are the possibilities of them extending the main path past the train tracks, headed towards Busch Rd, and using that plot of land?

I’d say very low due to the fact that the service road is there. That access needs to be clear most of the time so that vehicles can quickly reach the rides. That gravel road is the only road where vehicles can reach verbolten and BBW. Plus they just spent quite a bit of money on the events building, so very low probability that it would be torn down anytime soon.

so yes, Busch gardens can in figure build something like that launched spine coaster that didn't happen but theme it to drachen fire
 
you know, they missed a great opportunity of having a new version of Drachen fire & big bad wolf co existing on the same plot of land
Makes me think of Vekoma with the STC/Family Boomerang intertwined models at Emerald Park (I think that's the right one).

Could have a family oriented suspended coaster and a thrill oriented coaster intertwined and give it some near-miss, racing-like moments. I don't know of any tales where a dragon fights a wolf, but could make a short story to go along with it.

When Escape from Pompeii does eventually die, I would find it unconscionable to demo the building. There are plenty of coasters you could send through updated versions of the show scenes up top—likely without all that much difficulty honestly.

I've always loved the idea of a Cobra's Curse sister coaster with Pompeii's same dig site theme and an elevator lift up to the building's entrance. With the controlled rotation the ride system is capable of, you could do even more interesting work in the building story-wise. The darkride portion could easily match Mummy and I think it would be a monumental hit. Prior to the drop, the trains could rotate backwards as the doors open before following the same straight drop as Pompeii does, just falling out of the building backwards. Rest of the layout could just be a dense twister layout with spinning unlocked after a midcourse.

I think it could be really, really good. I'm also a huge Cobra's Curse fan though so...
This is my new favorite BGW concept and I will publicly pound the table for this should Pompeii ever be removed. What a perfect idea. Only thing I would change is the drop. I think having the front car facing forwards and the back car facing backwards would be perfect. Can’t beat that feeling of the doors opening on Pompeii. I’d also potentially add a portion in the second half that tunnels through the lower section of the building, plus a Georgia Gold Rusher style “splashdown” finale. I may make a more in depth concept for this, with all credit for the original idea to Zachary, of course.

I’m not sure what industry connections you have, Zachary, but if you could use whatever voice you have to double down on and publicly advocate for this idea, we’d appreciate it. It’s PERFECT for the direction BGW seems to be heading

Semi-related, I still wish Tempesto had been built in the Pompeii area and themed to a volcano or something eruption related. You wouldn’t even need a mountain, just some ruins for it to launch out of. If I had Bezos level fuck you money I’d personally pay for BGW to relocate and retheme it. I hate that it’s encroaching on Apollo. BGW coasters aren’t supposed to be that close together unless they’re inverting over the rhine

So I made a comment in a thread about BGW's entrance being too small. So I decided to mock up a concept of what I wish to see as the new entrance.

So everything with the pale yellow is a spot where there was structure, road, or foliage under, and that is all getting turned into pathway.

Starting at the England lot since this would need the smallest work. There, I would put up a small guest services spot, that includes a restroom (dark green) along with a 6 wide entrance gateway. There would be an 'always open, two wide, exit path (dark blue) throughout the day. For fun, given the lot that it's in, the guest services building would be classic London look with the entrance having a Tower Bridge feel to it.

Over in the main entrance area, I'm going to start in the center and work my way out. What used to be the ticketing area becomes your new entrance gate, with a widening to include more entrance areas (dark red). At the far north end (orange) there would be specific lanes set up for strollers. On either end of the gate, you would have exit only lines (dark blue).

Where the current tram line for (I'm assuming, never needed it) overflow parking is would get moved back, because where the current turn around is would get replaced with a new bigger guest services building (dark green) and a new bank of self serve kiosks would be (neon green). Now, in my plan, the self serve kiosks would only be for buying tickets and or passes. All vouchers would be moved to work with the app.

The new plaza taking over some of the lot would have a new water feature sign (light blue) for the park. This would be a statement item that would be an instagram worthy spot. All the light green would be areas where trees/foliage would go in to create a canopy of shade over the area and provide some sun relief.

Ok, now for the part I messed up and don't have a desire to redo: The exit from the tram and the queue for the tram (black lines) should be inversed. The queue would end up to the left of the current tram cover area, with the exit dumping you towards the new water feature sign. This would help flow as people getting off the tram would be directed to walk out around to where the back of the line is, and people exiting the park would have a quick walk to the tram queue without having to cut through the people entering the park.

The current kiosk, stroller rental, restrooms buildings would get connected (brown) into one bigger structure that still house rentals, restrooms, and items of the like. The change would be to face all the entrances and exits outside the park rather than the inside the new entrance creates.

And finally the big add, the purple area. This would become a new table service restaurant at the entrance to the park. In this concept, this restaurant would feature foods from European countries not represented in the park. So the menu would have Spanish, Greek, Scandinavian inspired food and drink. What I would avoid doing all around this is developing anything more. After you walk in the park, the rest of your walk should be quiet and serene as it acts as a portal to the rest of the park, building anticipation. And as you exit, it acts as a nice calming area as you walk out of the park.

If I had any 3D design skills whatsoever, I would mock this up so damn fast. I do like designing 2D stuff, though, so I might give that a shot, but we'll see. Insanely cool idea nonetheless.

Europe in the Aire: Otherworld Crisis

Guests are welcomed back to Europe in the Air! Once again, the company is offering a state-of-the-art touring service designed to whisk visitors across the continent in one unforgettable afternoon! Guests enter through a sleek travel agency lobby filled with brochures, rotating globes, and airport signage making it seem exciting, if mundane.

PRESHOW ROOM 1: THE DEPARTURE TERMINAL


As our live employee host begins the orientation, chaos erupts—Agent Miles O’Skye of the Otherworld Protection Agency (OPA) bursts onto the screen that moments before was simply a description of the vacation package the guests had purchased. The room flickers, lights surge, and Miles declares a Green Alert: an Otherworld Incursion. The invading Sluagh, ancient Irish spirits of chaos, have crossed into our world, and are exploiting magical nexuses across Europe! But wait, Agent Miles didn't notice the tour group in the building. No time for covering up though, all hands are needed!

In a flash, we’re deputized as temporary OPA recruits.

(Yes, this is blatantly stolen from Men in Black: Alien Attack. No, I won't apologize)

PRESHOW ROOM 2: THE HEART OF EIRE


In a second briefing room, guests learn that only the Heart of Éire, a mystical energy source, can defeat the Sluagh. Luckily, the OPA has discovered how to direct its magic using specially-tuned wands. The wands are in turn attatched and powered by the Slipstream 4000 Airsled, a nimble, floating skimmer vehicle equipped with the latest Otherwoldly technological developments.

(Guests grab their wand, which uses a simple push-button—no wrist flicks required. I'm not looking to create Webslingers injuries)

THE JOURNEY

1. Scotland – Loch Ness Research Outpost​

We launch across the Irish Sea, arriving at a foggy (see: fog machines) lakeside research station. The room is cluttered with expedition gear, old sonar monitors, and crumbling wooden docks. The Sluagh pop out from behind crates, inside tents, and even disguise themselves as diving suits. The ride ends with a close pass of something enormous lurking beneath the water—could Nessie be helping?

2. England – Stonehenge​

We arrive at twilight. Sluagh flit between the ancient stones, attempting to leech their power. Magical pulses swirl through the air, and as we zigzag through the circle. The stones react and glow with energy whenever the Sluagh are hit. We exit through past King Charles, who has Sluagh coming out of his crown!

3. France – Paris Streets​

It’s rush hour as we arrive in the City of Lights. We zip past the Arc de Triomphe, where a Sluagh clings to the top like a gremlin. Another perches atop a mime frozen mid-performance. A bakery explodes with croissants (perfect time to use on-ride scents!), and a bicyclist in a stripey shirt almost runs into us as we careen toward the Eiffel Tower.

4. Italy – The Colosseum​

We enter to the sound of echoing cheers. The Sluagh are reenacting gladiator battles using stolen ancient armor they have enchanted turning the arena into their playground. A lion chases one across the sand, while another is whipping a net at the vehicle! A nearby tourist (Carl Lum) desperately clutches his bowl of spaghetti as it's yanked away by a mischievous spirit.

5. Germany – Oktoberfest​

True chaos erupts. Tubas honk autonomously, Sluagh leap out of cuckoo clocks, and beer steins topple over with magical spills. A maypole twirls out of control, launching colored ribbons and spirits into the air. There's a special appearance by the Icelands booth, run by Gerta and Gunter's Incest Child.

6. Ireland – The Otherworld​

Finally, we shoot across the sea and break through the veil between worlds, entering the shimmering realm of the Sluagh. The Heart of Éire pulses at the center of an enchanted forest filled with glowing plants, levitating stones, and an ancient fairy castle. Balor himself descends, (a massive, highly impressive animatronic) in a last-ditch effort to win.

GRAND FINALE

With Balor vanquished, the Otherworld collapses into light. We’re welcomed back to Earth by Agent O’Skye, Addie the sprite, and other magical allies who thank us for our bravery. A readout screen gives each guest their OPA Rank, from Junior Agent to Hero of Éire, based on their score. Before disembarking, Miles reminds us not to tell anyone about what happened today, and that we are all being comped a free Europe in the Air vacation anytime we want!

I feel like this would be immensley reridable and probably permanently fix BGW. To anyone from SeaWorld Corporate who is reading this, it can be yours for a very reasonable fee, or a lifetime Platinum Pass.
