Did anyone notice BGW Christmas Town was NOT included in the USA Today Best of list? Only Tampa and Sea World Orlando were listed to vote. With it being a bragging right, that has to sting.
On the other hand, they now once again have an undeniable claim to “Virginia’s Best Theme Park Holiday Event.”

:(

Past Christmas Town feeling note. I was in a local shop with my wife over the weekend, and the shop was very glittery, tinsely and sparkly. I got got major Scott Gasparich vibes. 😐

Really disappointed the Celtic Christmas Trio dancers are not back this year. Really enjoyed them the last few seasons. The show added a unique and authentic Irish atmosphere to the Killarney Village.
The dancers that did the show were not available this year as returned to Ireland for the holiday season. I believe they are still planning on veing back for Celtic Fyre this spring.

We went on Sunday and I thought it was the best in several years. I'm not sure I can identify specifically what made it so much better, but it felt more like CT in its early years. There were certainly weaknesses, like the food and O'Tannenbaum, but the vibes overall were good.

The new show (Christmas Town Live!) was great and the performers were excellent.

I also really enjoyed the Scenic Pass. We took an exclusive nighttime cruise on the Rhine River; received QQs for both the skyride and the train, and were given kettle corn and hot chocolate.

I do worry that the crowds this year are going to be especially bad. But the event, itself, is good, in my opinion.

BGW is one of the worst parks to handle crowds. Narrow pathways and their refusal to open enough food service makes a crowded day harder to enjoy. With no Winterfest, one ahould expect pretty unbearable crowds IMO on the weekends and when school is out

I attended the days ore-Thanksgiving and Wed was one of those nights. Fri, Mon and Tue were pleasant. On Wed the line for food (for the one line open) in Festhaus stretched around the front of the seating area to the Big Bad Wolf side wall.

The event seems to be on the same level as past years, although I tend to be underwhelmed with a lighting after attending Winterfest, having lighting up in a lot of the big mature trees…. but I definitely like the way they have one unique color scheme in each section of the park. They do that better than any other park.

IHowever, it one of the best all-around family Christmas events. It features 4 true full production shows plus 2 more and two transportation rides at everyone can ride together. All of which KD Winterfest lacked. And made it hard to compete.

The finale for the train ride this year is disappointing. They should probably just return the train ride to transportation at this point.

Yea they seemed to of did away with the finale big light up tree with the lights covering the ground, but for the most part it's the same as last year. Lot better than it was in the early years tho lol

The fact that they still won't just buy standard drive through light display arches and designs like so many other places all around the country have truly baffles me. Can't they get Coca-Cola to sponsor it or something? Maybe some local bank? The train feels like the perfect opportunity for a sponsorship like that. I wouldn't begrudge them for it.

Would absolutely love to see little displays for all the major rides and attractions in the park alongside lights referencing and emphasizing the park's natural landscape and European theme. What they have now is just embarrassing. Wild to me that the likes of Newport News Park, the Norfolk Botanical Gardens, the Oceanfront, etc can all pull off what the train should provide but BGW can't.

Speaking of displays of all the rides/attractions, the park added a light covered Skyride cabin, and a lit up log flume boat display to the train. I didn't notice them last visit. You can see them clearly from BBW's lift.

Tonight was fantastic. Walk ons for all the coasters and Gloria was performing really well. I'm disappointed Twas That Night still isn't available yet. Hopefully they'll start shows once December rolls around.

Also if you collect park maps, the park is selling souvenir maps at Guest Services. They have one for main season/Howl O Scream and one for Christmas Town with the 1975 souvenir map on the back.

I bought the CMT one and assuming we’re talking about the same one, it actually isn’t 1975. Ive estimated it to be the 1978 map.

Food issue was readily apparent in what otherwise was a good event. Seriously BGW, if you don't want to run restaurants, open it up to food trucks to come in. All day events have some duty to provide food availability for patrons, and 45 minute food lines on light attendance days is not ok.

I never understood this they end up costing themselves more money by causing would be paying customers to pass things by sometimes.

I'm worried that they make higher margins having understaffed food lines, and don't see a drop-off at the gate from it, since guests forget about that part of the experience after. No different than why paying for parking is regularly a 20-30+ minute fiasco. It isn't actually hurting the bottom line.
