Are they implying that the train will only operate as a round trip from New France? I find that hard to believe, unless Derek B. is not in Ops anymore. To my understanding he is the whole reason the HOS train is not an attraction anymore (he wanted Tweedside to be the On/Off location, but the trains would have to stop every other round at Caribou for water, so they just canned it). Also, of they are making the train a round trip ride, they better make it special: pixels on board.

He left a few years ago.

Last Christmas Town the train was a round trip (no stops) with a light show.
It's important to remember that the ONLY year it did that was the Christmas Town of the Great Train fire. They only had two working engines at the time and had fit Caribou out with an extended platform to allow them to run more cars on each train. The train did not fit on the tweadside platform and Italy was closed for Pantheon work anyhow. So I don't know that we can be sure that the won't use three trains and multiple stations this year.

My point was only that is has happened before. I was responding directly to @ControlsEE. I try not to make predictions when I lack any evidence.

According the Christmastown website, it appears that it will stop at each station!

“All aboard -- join us on the Busch Gardens® Railway for a 20-minute train ride around the park. Three steam-powered locomotives whisk guests through 134 acres of lush landscaping with stops in Scotland, New France and Festa Italia for a breathtaking tour of the park.

You do not have to exit at each stop like the Skyride. Feel free to enjoy the train ride as long as you'd like during your visit.”

There's a lot of negativity in this thread about the event this year, and we haven't even seen it yet. I'm just glad we'll have CT back with the shows unlike last year. That was never a guarantee for me. Plus, AC is running for the first time during this event, which was a big surprise to me, so what's not to love there? I'm a bit bummed by the loss of Cookies 'n' Cocoa, but I'll still be able to get my fill of hot chocolate elsewhere around the park at least. The lack of dining options will be an issue throughout December for sure, but that's why I'll just go a couple days before Thanksgiving to enjoy it before the crowds get insane.

There's a lot of negativity in this thread about the event this year

After seeing how the park operated throughout their larger, more popular, more profitable event, Howl-O-Scream, I think that doom and gloom is coming from a very reasonable place unfortunately.

There are things I'm excited about—the death of the tree maze thing, the return of multi-station operations on the railroad, arctic Apollo, a Christmas version of Celtic Fyre, the return of Scooge No More—I'm looking forward to all of these things. That said, that positively is vastly overshowed in my mind by the spectre of the operations nightmares to come. No amount of arctic Apollo or Celtic Fyre will be worth one hour parking lines to tramless parking lots, two hour food lines for generic, cost-cut, main season menus, impassable pathways with zero attempt made at an ounce of crowd control, endless line jumping due to the lack of any security presence, dramatically reduced park theming and lights, etc.

I think most folks believe that Christmas Town has been an event in decline over the last handful of years—and having seen Howl-O-Scream 2021, I think people are, reasonably, terrified that that decline is about to turn into a complete free fall.

When did you hear that?

I can understand this for sure, but I think that most of this issue has to be the perceived decline of the event over the last few years. BGW is far from the only park struggling right now operationally. The demand is there post-Covid, but staffing and running the event will be difficult, especially for a regional park, which typically rely heavily on students for filling the workforce. I plan to adjust my expectations accordingly and try to enjoy the event as much as possible. CT has always been difficult with crowd levels anyway, just like HOS on a lot of nights.

Kings Dominion handled their Halloween event significantly better than BGW in my experience. (I went to KD 4 times and to BGW about 8)
KD was fully staffed, almost all restaurants were open, scare actors were on task, rides were running at full capacity.

I love BGW, but it’s hard to defend them right now.

but staffing and running the event will be difficult

I was very willing to cut BGW a lot of slack for much of this season knowing that the environment is tough. That said, when BGW started cutting existing employee pay despite consistent, enormous guest demand, I feel like they surrendered their ability to use the "rough staffing environment" excuse.

BGW had a strong year. Everyone knew Howl-O-Scream and Christmas Town would be dialing that up to 11. BGW's decision to enter these events by screwing over staff members with decreased pay is inexcusable in my opinion. In general, BGW should never be paying less, offering worse benefits, and treating their employees worse than the random fast food restaurants a mile away. That should be even more true today—a time in which BGW is THRIVING and a single BGW employee today is expected to do the work of two or three employees from years gone by.

It's just pure greed and it's legitimately ruining the guest experience.

Like @Nibbins said, Kings Dominion is in a far better operational state than BGW right now despite being in a historically far more difficult staffing environment. Why? Because KD is paying their employees far more competitive wages.

But yeah, the tone 'round here may be a bit of a downer right now, but I think it's a direct result of the park's actions and a reasonable expectation that things are going to get worse before they get better.

Lets hope that the hiring spree for the Culinary Department, specifically advertised for CT, was successful and they can open more food locations like Marco Polo's at least.

Rudolph stuff in Wilkomenhaus.
