I’m sorry, but this is just straight-up false. The railroad features infinitely more lights now than it ever has previously. That’s just a fact. You can prefer the more understated pre-Christmas Town Express decorations and you can think the Christmas Town Express is massively overhyped by the park, but to claim there used to be more decorations is demonstrably false.

Without a doubt it was an absolute hit with my friends kids. Especially the Italy -> France leg of the trip. And they had been there pre-CTE.

Another thing they used to do, now they just bundle lights on the edge of the roof of the cars and they just stay on all the time but remember when they also had red, blue and green strands along inside the roof of each car and they would turn on or off diffrent colors depending on which section of the park you were in?

I was at Christmas Town this past weekend. I enjoyed it. I was able to see O'Tannenbaum, Scrooge No More and Deck the Halls which I've never seen before. I missed out on Twas That Night which is one of my favorite holiday. shows. I didn't see the other 2 shows. I went of the train which was great, only 30 minute wait Friday night. Traditions Tree Maze was ok, not what I expected. I'll post my thoughts in each of the attractions threads later. Right now here are some pictures I from last Friday night.

Okay but that's also not fair to dismiss my feelings on the event. I didn't come out and say it was the worst event ever. I said I was bored and unimpressed. It over all does not appeal to me, which is why I haven't gone. But, y'know with the fact that they "added new things" to the event, and I was invited to go along with friends, I said sure why not.

Not everyone is going to like everything but I find it rather rude to be instantly like "if you don't like it don't go" to people's opinions on things. I wasn't trying to be argumentative. I was stating my feelings on what I experienced. I didn't come out and say anyone who likes the event is wrong. So why are you coming at me for saying I was bored and unimpressed, and found the "new additions" to not add much to the lineup? I didn't post to change anyone's mind.

Nobody else cares about your feelings. Time to learn that lesson.

The train at one time was lined with hundreds of cut trees and each of those trees had hundreds of lights. The swan has been around a few years now so thats not new, they used to line the area where the Pantheon bridge is going with lights and trees, and the area where Invadr is now had trees and lights. If you want to go bulb for bulb then I think you are wrong. Heck, take all the orbs back by old Dachen Fire and add them up and there are probably less of them than there were lights on just one tree before and there were trees everywhere back there. The orbs on the bridge by Griffon to me are a distraction, the view you had before of Ireland and all the lit trees in the distance was so nice a peaceful, but now you have pastel colors blasting you in the face. The RGB pixel "walls" they have make no sense, it remeind me of the old information highway scene from Spaceship Earth at Epcot. If they used a little effort and programed them they could be pretty cool but they dont, they are lazy. Take a look at the new Tomorrowland Speedway at Magic Kingdom and toward the end they have the red and white stripe patterns in the bushes, if they did something like that it would be amazing but no, they unboxed them and left them on demo mode. They could really do some cool effects with them, if they used vertical rows of colors and had them programed to the speed of the train it could give you the effect of sitting still, there are so many possibilities that a laptop and a couple hours could do.

I cannot even begin to fathom caring this much about light placement at an amusement park.

I pity people like @Beachokie. He’s so unsure of and uncomfortable with his own opinions and convictions that he feels the need to aggressively lash out at others just because they offer a different viewpoint. How fragile—how delicate—must his own self confidence be to trigger such an emotionally-charged attack over someone not enjoying something as much as he does? How did he get to a point in his life where he experiences that level of anger over not having his feelings about a theme park event validated by every random person on the internet? It’s tragic. Really goddamn annoying, yes—but also really, truly sad.

PS: Also, @Beachokie, a little rhetorical tip for you—your actions just highlight and perpetuate the less positive viewpoints you hate so much. @BGWScream posted about enjoying her trip and contributed a bunch of great photos. You could have replied to that post talking about something you enjoy and then we’d be having a positive discussion about CMT in this thread. Instead, you are magnifying the very thing you claim to hate. It’s political self-sabotage—again, truly tragic.

I honestly felt like the event hasn’t changed that much either. Things have changed for sure, but a lot of the new additions are of a similar nature (new light displays, new shows, etc) and that’s fine because there are only a few ways to celebrate the holiday.

I don’t think it’s fair to tell people to not just go because there are still legitimate reasons to go despite not liking an event. I went twice during the first week for two different reasons that weren’t to enjoy the CT attractions. If they want to give input “boring” is input. Maybe the park could look into a wider variety of things to do.

I know everyone says "you cant compare WDW to BGW" but this season Disney completely redid the decorations at Animal Kingdom and they look amazing. I feel like thats what BGW needs to do. Now im not suggesting do the whole park at once but each year they need to upgrade a section. They also need to put way more detail in the decorations, look at the wreaths on most doors, they are pretty basic with lights and some simple decorations. Now compare that to Animal Kingdom or Kings Dominion, thats what they need to progress to. Im also not suggesting changing the theme of the sections but more of just making them better, more to look at, more detail. Take the Festhaus for exampme, I feel like the early days of CT it was way more decorated than they do now, remember the huge spinning light fixtures they added, there were poinsettias on all the tables, it just had a much better overlay. Now I feel like the stage is changed out, they throw some garyland on the stairs and call it quits.

If you ask me, each year there should be some sort of new or replaced attraction, some sort of new or replaced show, AND a hamlet should have its decorations overhauled or its theme replaced. I honestly don’t think that should be too much to ask from one of the biggest, most profitable special events in BGW’s lineup. We expect a new house, show, and scarezone out of Howl-O-Scream each year—why are we okay with a stagnant Christmas Town? Hell, we should probably expect more change out of Christmas Town than we do Howl-O-Scream since CMT is FAR more reliant on its special event offerings than HOS is (ie. many would visit BGW in the fall regardless of the existence of HOS thanks to many of the standard park offerings still being made available—the same can’t be said for the winter).

Christmas Town was on a nice track of adding a new show, attraction, and area for a while there—remember Aquitaine’s fantastic 12 Days of Christmas overhaul with its own light show, roaming characters, etc? Remember Sesame’s opening year with its elaborate whimsical decorations? Not only have renovations like that stopped, but the ones we received previously have all been substantially watered down as well.

I think Christmas Town is good and enjoyable—but I find it really hard to be excited about something that I see as being in a clear state of decline—hence why my eyes have turned increasingly to WinterFest as of late.

Yes, I never understood why they ended the 12 days stuff. I still walk through and look for the strobe lights in the trees and think back to that. But yes WF is the event we consider the best and tend to enjoy more even though its a hour past BGW for us its worth the drive. I also find it funny they took the time to decorate the employee parking tram with a ton of lights yet the ones for paying guests are bare. The event overall anymore isnt polished, it gives the impression it was hastily thrown together with little attention to details overall.

It is at least an opportunity to exercise all season dining. Today is the last day to get the polar bear stuffed animal I think.

Let's recount the events:

You
1, logged into the site.
2, looked around to see what was happening.
3, you reacted to my post, as well as others.
4, you then directly responded to my post.
5, you've continued to respond back, any time I've spoken since.

That's 5 whole ass steps at a minimum you took.

If you didn't care, you would have stopped at least by step 3. If you didn't care, you wouldn't keep coming back to respond. ?? it's okay if you have feelings that are hurt my dude. We all have those feelings.

Now if you would like to add to the conversation about Christmas Town then sure by all means, we can have a conversation. But if you're gonna be a dick then I hope you have a good day, and I'll stop responding. :)

This conversation has gone completely off the rails, and people are getting close to launching personal attacks.

What does everyone think about the specialty drinks?

I had a Hot Toddy a few back and I felt I could strip paint with it. It was gross, but it was also the first time I ever tried one, so I can't compare....
