Edit: this is simply untrue:
Several people, including me, noticed that the Eiffel Tower was incomplete almost immediately. It was front and center in the park.
Well as for me the minute you pulled off of I 95 last year on opening night the tower had a wow factor that I could not have imagined. Even as you walked to the ticket booth and into the park you couldnt, at least I couldnt tell that the few strands from the backside were missing. Sure if you walked around to the backside and looked up you noticed but the shear size of that tree outweighed those missing strands.
So in fact your statement is also untrue from my perspective.
