Yes, as a matter of fact that is true and they even had a costume for King Ludwig ready and designed by the parks costume department, originally the house was going to be located somewhere in Oktoberfest (Likely in one of the old Drachen Fire Buildings) but was for whatever reason relocated the theory is due to the popularity of the existing houses of due to licensing negotiations (unlikey due to the rides presence) with falcon's treehouse (Deadtime Stories and Tormented Tales) so the story was changed to remove mention of King Ludwig but still having a theme of a festival where guests disappeared and there are hauntings so they moved it to the Roman rapids queue and slightly altering the theme to make it original and unique to darkastle

Do you have a source for all of these claims?

Much of it has been rumored for ages, but I've never seen any proof.

Masquerade, last laugh, and wicked woods were the 3 best mazes HOS has ever seen imo. The fan trick masquerade used was so damn cool to me as a kid and it always got someone.

Deadline seemed very impressive

Also did anyone find maps from 2002, 2003, 2004?
Deadline was actually majorly impressive when it came out. Never looked back on curse of pompeii after that. But there was alot of bad that surrounded it to make it really stand out imo. Besides Catacombs

I’m not sure if this is helpful, but I have the descriptions of the attractions from 2007:

The NeverAfter – scare village (Festhaus Park)
The NeverAfter reveals the sinister side of fairytales in this all-new, spine-tingling village comprised of two haunted houses, Grimm Hollows: Deadtime Stories and Tormented Tales; and The Beaten Path scare zone. Based loosely upon the fables of the Brothers Grimm, these twisted tales unleash new nightmares during the park's annual fall spooktacular. Elevating the park's fright factor, The NeverAfter is not for the faint of heart nor young of age.

The Beaten Path – scare zone (Festhaus Park)
The Beaten Path offers travelers a road to remember as fairytale fiends offer no friendship along this torturous trail. Howl-O-Scream revelers beware The Beaten Path.

Grimm Hollows

Deadtime Stories – haunted house (Festhaus Park)
Step inside this macabre maze, where Howl-O-Scream legend weaves a tale of the childhood home of the Brothers Grimm. Inspirational folklore takes a terrifying twist as guests traverse the rooms of Howl-O-Scream's newest and most horrifying haunted house. These "deadtime" stories will not lull visitors to sleep, but rather to sprint.

Tormented Tales – haunted house (Festhaus Park)
Journey through the pages of this fairy tale maze as only Busch Gardens' Howl-O-Scream can conjure up. From forest witches and diabolical dwarfs to golden-haired tricksters and fabled villains, "readers" are stalked from page to page. Happy endings are for fairy tales, not Tormented Tales.

Festhaus FrightNight Show (Germany)
With the turn of a golden key, guests will witness the unleashing of a fearsome foursome known as "The Frights." Banished centuries ago for their bad behavior and deafening music, guests will enjoy helping the Festhaus dancers as they try to save the festival hall.

Clownfusion (Italy)
This Howl-O-Scream funhouse will leave guests spinning, laughing and frightened for more. Mirrors, tunnels and a carnival-like atmosphere greet visitors in this interactive area.

Jack's Pumpkin Express – train ride (France)
Join Jack as he cranks up Halloween tunes on a train ride tour of the world's "Most Boo-ti-ful Scream Park."

Piratical Purgatory (England)
Argh! Piratical skeletons have taken over England. Dead men may tell no tales, but don't get caught off guard by these bony sailors.

Curse of Pompeii (Italy Haunted Maze)
The maze beneath Escape from Pompeii takes guests through the ruins of a great city destroyed by a volcano. Rumbling earthquakes, carnivorous plants and ancient catacombs welcome those foolish enough to enter these ash-covered ruins.

Wicked Woods (England Haunted Maze)
A remote English village is the setting for this portal-in-time where ghastly scenes of history such as the Great Fire of London and the Bubonic Plague are played out. The terrifying trees of Wicked Woods are shrouded in mystery, but one thing is certain – this Howl-O-Scream more than just leaves will be falling from the trees.

Child-Friendly Zone (Land of the Dragons)
Land of the Dragons remains a friendly place for younger children to enjoy the holiday spirit without the startles.

Werewolf Reserve (Jack Hanna's Wild Reserve)
It's not just the wind that is howling in Jack Hanna's Wild Reserve. There's a full moon every Howl-O-Scream evening as werewolves roam the reserve.

Festa (Italy)
Carnival clowns lure guests into Festa, a freaky festival that has taken over the once-peaceful hamlet of Festa Italia. Terrifying puppets add to the carnival pranks.

SHOWS

Dublin Over (Ireland)
Everyone in the family will enjoy this festive show filled with Irish music performed during the daylight hours in the Abbey Stone Theatre.

Storytelling in Castle O'Sullivan (Ireland)
Everyone in the family will enjoy the Irish fables and tales with some ghostly themes told at this show located at Castle O'Sullivan. Stories will take place at dusk before Howl-O-Scream begins each Saturday.

Jack is Back (Ireland)
In ancient Celtic Ireland, Jack-O-Lanterns were used to ward off evil spirits. As nighttime descends, this tale comes to life at Busch Gardens Europe. A party procession of carved creatures invades the village to pay homage to Jack-of-the-Lantern. Pumpkins, scarecrows and Jack himself entertain park guests during this dancing party.

Starfright Orchestra (Italy)
An almost-live band and a zombie emcee play Halloween hits such as "Halloween Spooks," "Soul Man," and a medley of TV theme songs. Guests are invited to groove with the ghouls at Italy's Teatro di San Marco.

Monster Stomp (France)
This thrilling revue features classics by The Doors and Jimi Hendrix. Devilish dancers shake their groove things while percussionists beat out rocking rhythms at the Canadian Palladium.

Rockin' Eve's Countdown to Midnight (France)
Rock through a magical nightmare in the park's Royal Palace Theatre. Host, Hallow Eve, and magician, Aaron Radatz, star in this rock 'n' roll show. Music, magic and monsters are all part of the nightly festivities.

And the press release from 2005. The mazes that year were Nightmare Express, Curse of Pompeii, Last Laugh Industries, and Sleepless Hollow Manor.

HE'S BACK…JACK RETURNS TO HAUNT

BUSCH GARDENS WILLIAMSBURG

Earlier, Later and More: Howl-O-Scream Begins Sept. 16

WILLIAMSBURG , Va. – Guests should prepare to be scared as Busch Gardens unveils its sixth season of Howl-O-Scream, the park's Halloween-themed festival of fright. The haunting begins earlier this year and continues every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 16 through Oct. 30, for seven full weekends of theme park terror. The Williamsburg adventure park also remains open later on Saturdays during Howl-O-Scream, until 11 p.m., to allow visitors more time to experience the haunted houses, macabre mazes and the newest ride sensation, Curse of DarKastle.

"Our guests wanted more, and we are giving it to them," said Donnie Mills, executive vice president and general manager for Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Water Country USA. "This Howl-O-Scream season is packed with more ghouls lurking in the shadows, a brand new haunted house in Festa Dementia, and new twists to old favorites."

NightScares…Awakened by Magic debuts in the Royal Palace Theatre. Set in a dream world and brought to life by incorporating illusions, special effects and pulsating music, NightScares spins the ultimate tale of good versus evil.

The ghostly adventures for 2005 include new tricks and treats:

· Last Laugh Industries: The evil-clown supply business has been booming, and this new company is the leader in offering evil-clown gear. Rumor has it that bike horns, kazoos and rubber chickens aren't the only items being packaged by the workers. Visitors beware when touring this fearsome factory.

  • Dublin Over: This all-new, family-oriented musical shows debuts during the daylight hours in Ireland's Abbey Stone Theatre.
Also new this year is Busch Gardens Williamsburg's Front-of-the-Line pass that allows guests head-of-the-line privileges to five great Howl-O-Scream attractions: Sleepless Hollow Manner, Curse of Pompeii, Last Laugh Industries, Jack's Nightmare Express, and Curse of DarKastle. Guests may purchase Front-of-the-Line passes at Busch Gardens Williamsburg's main gate and in select locations throughout the park, as well as online at buschgardens.com. The cost of Front-of-the-Line passes is $25; season passport members receive a $5 discount.

The world's " Most Boo-ti-ful Theme Park" transforms into monstrous mayhem after dark. Howl-O-Scream activities are included with paid admission. Not all activities are suitable for young children and parental discretion is advised. Ratings for each activity are posted at attractions in the park and on the show schedule. For more information, guests may call (800) 343-7946 or visit howl-o-scream.com.
