Knotts isn't the only one being affected by this for SoCal.
Speaking of Knotts, here’s another change right before Scary Farm:

Question about the mvp passes. We bought ours and set our home park to Carowinds since we plan to go to Scarowinds in September. Is it possible to “activate” the pass this year when we go, or will we have to wait until next year since technically it’s a 2026 pass?

When you first use that newly purchased pass at Carowinds, you'll be good to go for the length of the new pass. So yeah, you're totally good after your Sept. trip!
I'll be buying the Great Adventure membership for when my SFA membership dies with the park, seeing as the Gadv premier membership is $3 cheaper a month than KD's and will become a monthly membership as opposed to the KD pass just running for 2026.

I'm already planning a Gadv trip to pick up Jersey Devil and The Flash in September, so that would activate it. But would I have to return in 2026 to make sure it stays active for 2027?

Does anyone know if you do a pass renewal and you did not have the all park passport before do you have to go to KD or your home park before you go to another park or is the renewed pass just already activated?

Not to change the conversation, but has anyone heard anything regarding the Peanuts IP contract renewal? Don Helbig, the guy who wrote the original article, has been posting very cryptic Facebook posts that may or may not be related to the situation. Also, I’ve seen more theme park YouTubers talking about it recently.

People are also reporting that they’ve seen Looney Tunes merch in some of the KI shops, but I can’t find any pictures for the life of me.

How long do we think it’ll be before a final decision is made? The clock is rapidly ticking.

Edit: adding screenshot of cryptic post

um, if they going to end up retheming planet snoopy, I rather go with hanna barbera (a Ip that Warner bros owns but Six Flags Great America did removed camp cartoon while six flags fiesta texas retheme Scooby doo to a pirates themed dark ride so I don't know if that's gonna happen or not) or maybe kidzville like in canada wonderland (and formerly kings dominion & California great america

Don Helbig strikes me as a credible source, given that he used to be KI's PR manager, so I put a good amount of stock in what he's saying. I really hope he's wrong about this one. Unfortunately, that post with KD's Charlie Brown statue makes me worry he knows something that we don't.

Last I was at KD a few weeks ago, I specifically checked to see if any of the Peanuts merch had been discounted, and I couldn't find any that was. There was definitely no Looney Tunes merch at KD then either. As far as I can tell, the discounted Peanuts merch and arrival of Looney Tunes merch has only happened at KI. Maybe there's a world where SF renewed the Peanuts license for a more limited set of legacy CF parks, and KI -- with its proximity to CP, which has a longer legacy of the Peanuts characters -- was deemed as one to switch to Looney Tunes? Probably wishful thinking, but it's a thought.

I'm still trying to decipher whether Don Helbig has insider knowledge on this one, or if he's just reading the tea leaves of the merger. His initial blog post seemed to focus exclusively on deducing facts (that the Peanuts license is expiring and the Looney Tunes license extends through the 2050s, that the current SF management seems to have no appetite for unnecessary spending) and on public rumors, and didn't seem to tread into any insider information. But given his doubling down on this rumor, maybe that's changed.

Switching the legacy CF parks (particularly KD) from Peanuts to Looney Tunes isn't something I'll lose much sleep over, but it would be disappointing nonetheless. I think the Peanuts give the parks a sort of timeless charm that I don't get from the Looney Tunes, which feels tackier and more abrasive to me. Perceived "charm" and "tackiness" probably don't weigh much on a spreadsheet though, especially for a corporation in as rocky a financial state as Six Flags.

yep, I hope its everything, keep the legacy six flags parks the rights to looney tunes & legacy cedar fair parks the rights to peanuts, while the former kings parks gets hanna barbera back

I don't know the math, but seems like it would be more expensive to have to re-theme every Planet Snoopy/Camp Snoopy to Looney Tunes vs. renew the Peanuts IP contract... just seems totally unnecessary when this company has MANY other things they could be focusing on to improve performance. I seriously hate this merger and what it has done to the Cedar Fair parks.

I don’t think there is really any argument to his credibility but to the degree of correction there seems to be some debate. SF needs to right the ship but I question if they need to gonas drastic as you suggest to di that. My current guess is we might see something closer to a 30 park company in the long run.

You are talking one time expense vs on going expense in yearly licensing. Also figuring in to this might be things like merch movement and what share of the cost of merchandise the IP holder is entitled to. The WB deal with SF has long been rumored to be very generous to the company in that area. So in short it's more complex then the basic comparison.

This, my friends, is the answer to all of Six Flags' problems.
Change the logo to what is shown above, return to their roots and all the debt, mismanagement and attendance drops will be solved!

This is especially great because a longtime Cracker Barrel senior executive was just recently added to the Six Flags board of directors... 😬

That actually may be a good thing for Six Flags... at least for food and decor let's hope!
Actually looking at her profile her 13 years at Cracker Barrel in various roles overlap with both increased sales and high consumer support. It’s worth noting that she has been gone from that company for a year and a half so played no role in the current PR challenges the company is facing. She has also served on the board of Lowes which is another company with a strong consumer loyalty. So hopefully some of translates into her having more of an old CF mindset and we see some positive changedin the future but time will tell.

Yes, I just read her bio too. My thoughts exactly. She's got a fantastic track record and was a captain in the Army to boot!
