It's not a single year off it's two in a row. Last year was a laughable disaster and it is part of a 20 plus year decline for the park.
I understand your anger, seeing a park you love in decline. It is also sad when rides you love are removed. I remember the Great American Scream Machine fondly as, to this day, one of my favorite rides. I thought it was too soon for that ride to go when it did. I would say the same thing even if it stuck around for 40 years, it would always be too soon for me.

Great American Scream Machine was, and still is, my #1, and I’ve definitely been transparent about the fact that I feel Green Lantern was a major downgrade. I’ll also probably always be a little pissed that the park allowed Rolling Thunder to reach the state it did, killing any chance of a refurbishment or RMC conversion. That said, I’ve never allowed that to get in my way when it comes to being excited about the park’s future (hell I showed up to passholder previews for Lantern), and while it’s on a much larger scale this time, I feel the same way.

The skyride may very well be the greatest loss in the park’s history, but I’m also not going to blame Cedar Fair for something that was Six Flags’ fault. Change has been needed in terms of the park’s maintenance and investment for a LONG time, and it was always going to take drastic measures, merger or not.

It's not a single year off it's two in a row. Last year was a laughable disaster and it is part of a 20 plus year decline for the park. We lost 8 rides in.one season, 4 of which were icons and maybe getting one new ride that they promise will be great but over the last two years they have done nothing to earn that trust just more removals and worsening operations. But at least the icee stands look purdy.

This is why I can't take many of you defenders seriously as many of you ignore or hand wave the major issues plaguing the park, some of which are caused or magnified by CF's actions while gushing over new bathroom railings. The park was a mess last year and it's a bigger mess this year and the CF defenders are pissing on our head telling us it's raining. Even your post is just another example of gaslighting.
I had a good time at GA last year except for Toro and Ka beating me up the first visit. Did have to wait for haunted houses to open but crowds were moderate and everything I'd normally ride was open. I never got how closing rides at the end retroactively ruined the year. You could even still smoke. If it wasn't for Flash this year would be sad.

I had a great time visiting the Great Escape today. During my visit I met with several directors and other former coworkers. There are some proposed changes coming down the pike that will affect the fulltime staffing chain of command. For staters corporate will be eliminating the park president position from its parks. A new regional director position will oversee several parks at once. Along with this update, parks will now have an operations "general manager" who will act as Defacto park president and report as a liaison of sorts to the regional director.

This came as a surprise to me and I have mixed feelings about it. On the positive end, it will probably streamline operations and cut down a bit on costs, which I know the new Six Flags corporate management team is looking to do. However I believe the cons outweigh the pros on this one. A ship cannot sail without a captain. I believe each park should have a solid single captain, aka a park president. Staff need someone to turn to as the leader in times of need for direction and vision. Additionally I don't know where the regional director's office will actually be located, but the director will obviously not be able to be present to all the parks under his responsibility at the same time. There will be a more "removed" style of leadership happening here and could have some implications on quality. I am still hopeful for the the best possible outcome, but this move has me scratching my head. Perhaps it will make more sense in time.

I wonder if this is simply the company standardizing their org structure to the way CF was structured. Prior to the merger, CF notably did not refer to their park-level leaders as “presidents” but instead called them “general managers,” and they reported to a regional director in a way that sounds similar to what is described here. It also seems that CF’s general managers were increasingly focused on operations, with most strategic decisions made by corporate, over the past several years.

Without more details, I could be wrong about whether that’s the case here, but what’s described sounds very similar to how CF operated. I’m sure bringing the legacy SF parks under a consistent operating model with the legacy CF parks was high on their to-do list.

It really just sounds like you need to cancel your pass and quit going to the park altogether. You're clearly not a fan of the direction the park is going in, so why bother going back if it makes you that unhappy? There are plenty of other non Six Flags/Cedar Fair parks in the area for you to patronize. If I felt the same way about my home park, I would never go back.

I am seriously considering not renewing next season, depends on whatever the new coaster will be. Its hard to give up a park you have visited it for 38 years since childhood but maybe its time to move on. Had I known so much was going to removed when I renewed last Labor Day I wouldn’t have. I have visited the GAdv far fewer times this season than I normally do for simply not being as enjoyable. Its not just the ride removals either, ride operations, breakdowns, and line cutting are also much worse this season so far. The off road Safari adventure is the best thing there now IMO.

I already stopped visiting Dorney due to CF 's declining operations there Not that old SF was great but they had less BS than CF and the merger has been ugly IRL and online. Moreover, I miss the old GAH forums where one could have discussions about the park without being flamed, especially by admins.

I feel the same way about Hersheypark. They have great rides for sure but the park absolutely cannot handle the crowds those new rides bring, so every visit ends up being exhausting from the crowds, hot from the lack of shade in half of the park, and expensive from all the front of line passes we have to buy just to remotely enjoy our day, not to mention the piss poor operations across the board.

So what did I do? I let my pass expire and I'm taking a couple years off from going. Hersheypark will always be there. Maybe I'll wait for the next roller coaster or their 120th anniversary next year? Maybe I won't. Yeah I miss the coasters and I miss seeing Reese's Cup and I miss Choc World, but it's not worth the headache. I gave the park one last shot last year and it wasn't really worth it.

Making regular visits to the park proves that you're ok with the direction they're going in, so vote with your wallet, cancel your pass and stop going. GAdv will still be there when you're ready to come back.

Its ok to be critical of the park and their decisions but when all you post is nothing but "I hate this place" "this place sucks" "this place makes me upset", it gets really aggravating really fast. Its not constructive at all. If you wanna go to a place that fosters discussion about how the park sucks, there are plenty of Facebook groups where you can air that. I'd rather not see that when I open these threads all the time.

Oh god, I knew something was fishy about those Facebook groups for KD and BGW. Loads of condescension and insults, complaining about name changes of “precious” rides, there was even a petition to prevent the Rebel Yell name change from happening. Most of them didn’t even understand what was truly happening at the parks, let alone how the business really works. No need for me to hang around them anymore when this place is both a critical and much more constructive in discussion about the amusement industry.

Is anyone listening in to the call right now? Have they said anything about selling parks? Their SEC slides don’t seem to indicate any of that and I’m working so I can’t listen in on the call.

I listened to the first hour and a half before I had to leave. They brought up the possibility of divesting more parks in the future. It sounds like they are monitoring some of the smaller or midtier parks with limited growth potential. Increasing labor costs at some of the lower margin parks could be a factor in closing a park because it is harder to absorb that cost.

New unified mobile app coming in July to replace both legacy apps. Working on adding in park wifi to all parks.

Big growth potential in Magic Mountain, Over Texas, and Over Georgia (possible +7 million increase in attendance with those 3 parks).

They are very excited about Chicago and NJ.

Did they mention anything at all about future zimjobs?

Interesting bits: page 41 shows pairs of nearby parks, implying this is considered advantageous, due to all-park and "regional"(?) passport sales. Included in the pairings is KD and SFA.
Page 42 shows Flash to be "driving attendance" at GrAdv, which is technically true I guess...

It's ironic that one can finally get into SFA on a KD pass, but only this year.
