When Great Adventure opened in 1974, the park featured several generic "flat rides" as part of the attraction line up. The colorful Calypso ride was part of the Strawberry Fair area of the park. The ride was relocated to the waterfront in 1976, and remained operating in the park through the end of the 1987 season.
