Thinking about this year's new summer event has us thinking about their ability to do fireworks because of the new construction area taking away from the areas pyrotechnics usually stage the fireworks. Has us thinking we might only see fireworks for 4th of July.
Only 1 brush fire this year?!? What a ripoff.

I would think that the park is just going to find a new area to do the fireworks, it’s not like they are going to tear coaster back down to do fire works, so they are going to need a long term solution if the coaster is the problem. In the off chance that anyone at seas is reading this I’d totally be fine with giving up the fireworks in place of a drone show like Dollywood.

Those drone shows are very cool saw our first one at norfolk harbor fest last year. We definitely wouldn't mind a drones over fireworks. At least on a daily basis. And most would agree they would rather watch the fireworks at colonial williamsburg 4th of July than at bgw.

Measuring the distance from BGW to The Williamsburg Jamestown Airport gets me a distance of about 4 miles that puts it inside of the 5 mile radius that the FAA restricts comercial drone use. It wouldn't be impossible for BGW to host a drone show but it would add to the complexities if it.

The stuff they are doing has been done to death with other parks, but just remember as "enthusiasts" we know that but most of the GP doesn't. To most of them rainbow colored umbrellas suspended above the walkway is something new and unique, and they can't wait to take a selfie for "the gram"! We all know Dollywood did it, Six Flags did it, etc, but most of the GP doesn't visit park sites and see it, or they haven't been somewhere doing the exact same thing.

The problem BGW has always had with summer events is how do you do something that ALL the park guests can enjoy? Do you do fireworks that threaten to burn down the trees and are only visible in a few locations? Do you do shows in each hamlet and block the pathways? Do you do a big night show in the Royal Palace and have to do two or three showings a night to accommodate crowds and still have guests disappointed they couldn't get in? A parade that only goes through two hamlets and blocks the pathways? I've seen the park do all of those things and quite often it doesn't quite work the way they hoped.

This is something simple that can be experienced by guests all day, generally won't snarl the flow of guests, and is cheap and easy and gets them attention with people posting their pictures.

My solution would be very small performances around the park:

Exploring the Worlds of Wonders: Culture, Art, Music, Entertainment, and Food Festival.

Singer/busker- France
Violinist- France
Fool/Juggler act in England
Visual Dancing acts in Italy Gardens
Bagpipes- Ireland
Puppeteer- Italy
Festa Italia- Italian folk dancing
Woodworking- New France
Etc

local Art and artesian vendors.

Locations could be mobile and not impact walkways as much as bigger performances.

Just small acts of fun.

Also, some visual lighting displays/art installs would be great as well - Tree lighting, Canopy lighting, Kites in skys, etc.

I would also be inclined to some special foods/dessert booths.

Nothing big or costly in terms of decor/implementations.

I believe this would embody a wide variety of entertainment for all guest types.

But even though you and I both get that returning theme to the park through themed entertainment is what should happen, unfortunately things need to be “dumbed down” to suit most guests. Years ago they strayed from those ideas (even under AB ownership). That’s why Aquitaine is now France, and Rhinefeld is now Germany. The GP is too stupid to appreciate or understand subtleties.

Unless they are playing pop music on the bgm system, they don’t get it’s a “party”!

I disagree there. I think the pop theme is actually more confusing and takes away from the atmosphere. They should do more culturally appropriate to the setting feeling.

I don‘t think it is fair to assume that people who aren’t amusement park experts somehow don’t understand theming or have any culture and taste.

Also, we have a thread for this debate:
