Here’s my theory…

A group of paranormal investigators get abnormal readings on a dark and stormy night at an abandoned castle in Bavaria. The group decides to go check out these readings on snowmobiles (since there is a call for impending weather). While at the castle, more abnormal readings spike and the guests are greeted to Ludwig’s ghost and an odd snow lightning storm (sure).

Personally, it would rock my world if the ride ended with a recording of Ludwig or some kind of animatronic in the uniform. screaming “You’ll never escapeeeee”.

I knew from the minute they announced the connection to CoDK they wouldn't be able to follow through with any solid attempt at connecting the story through solely the ride's own merits, but it still stings to hear the reports that very much confirm "if you didnt know going into it, you'd have no idea what the story is".

I just can't seem to stop getting my hopes up any time they are presented with the opportunity to tell a story, even though I actively tell myself "it ain't gonna happen".

Now been in line for 2.5 hours. STILL in line. Park has been closed for an hour and 20 minutes. Probably another 30 minutes to go…

Could you time the dispatches when you get to the station? The theories about abysmal capacity being confirmed will probably be the big story out of today. Say they're averaging a dispatch every minute and a half–that's only 450 guests per hour assuming every seat is filled.

I fully acknowledge that holding DarKoaster to the the thematic and storytelling bar set by DarKastle is unreasonable. I do think that it should be reasonable to expect the pre-ride experience to come close to Battle for Eire or even Verbolten though and it just very much does not. The lack of any attempt to convey even just the setting or characters involved is honestly sorta shocking to me. Makes it feel more like a nostalgia cash grab than an actual attempt to make a cohesive, coherent attraction.

Saw one person get walk of shamed 😰
I wasn't timing, so this isn't exact, but my guess is dispatch is about every 1.5-2 minutes. They had to relock restraints multiple times in a row on some trains to get all greens.

Anyway, I think it's definitely a fun ride, very smooth and not much thrill, but still fun and goes at a good speed.

Just got off! 3hrs 20 minutes is the magic number. My god. I’ll write about it tomorrow. Thoughts on the ride changed a bit and I believe they tweaked a good bit of things since yesterday and even since the preview started based on others experience earlier in the session.

@Zachary The capacity is just horrid. Maybe 2-2.5 minutes a dispatch.

I’ve only ever waited longer for a ride on Hagrids. What a night.

Edit: I’m exiting the park 2hrs 15 minutes after park close. I hate being an enthusiast sometimes.

I will say the line is deceptive. It moved at a consistent pace while I was in it but the issue was we were not moving much each time at all. If you’re outside the castle you have over an hour easily and I mean on the ramp not in the courtyard. If you’re on the other side of the section surrounding that statue, well buckle up buckaroo. I feel for anyone who decides to wait for this thing on a Saturday unknowingly for how bad the capacity is.
