Dang. If it said June, I would’ve felt a sense of vindication for the Dippin Dots guy who told me so.

Is there any big project at any American amusement park this year that isn't delayed?

You really can't call any project "delayed" unless the park publicly announced an opening date or time frame that later gets changed or pushed back.

I know some fans consider any new project that's not ready when a park opens for the season to be "delayed," but that's really shaky reasoning.

I happen to see a commercial for the park on one of the local TV stations (forgot which one) and it also said that DarKoaster will be opening in May.

A bit more precise of the date would be awesome. May 1st? That’s may isn’t it? Or May 28th? “Well that’s still may” smh

Every time a ride comes close to opening, I see people say the same things.

"Spring? Can't they be more precise? "May? Can't they be more precise?"

Not trying to dunk on you specifically RollyCoaster, just like that is all intentional, it gives them room. When they are at a certain milestone, they can comfortably give a 3 month range to open in with low risk of falling out of it. Another milestone, they are comfortable pitting that down to a specific month. When they are almost done, they can try to nail down a day for ceremonies of sorts. All the while enjoying the passive benefit of people not understanding the marketing and planning trips in Spring or May 1st thinking the ride will be open, scoring some bonus foot traffic that will inevitably come back again for opening. Not to mention every time they refine down that date, they get to unleash a whole new slew of marketing pushes with 0 brain activity on what to market.

I’m guessing Memorial Day weekend for an opening. It will be a holiday weekend so already busy. Then you announce “New coaster is opening!”, and that'll give them an amazing attendance for that weekend

I get *why* they do it, just wish they had a bit more clarity given that the end of may is less than 2 months away. I live out of state which makes it difficult for me to plan and I’d love to go on opening day. Personal problem I know.

I'm in the same boat, I feel your pain. I doubt I'll be able to make opening day for that reason but I'll definitely get there within the first couple weeks of opening.

Honestly, I just can’t wait to see the castle bustling with activity again and walking through that queue line most visits. I have to wonder if it ends up a better ride than Verbolten overall though that’s a high bar. That queue is probably gonna be brutal some days but at least it looks nice. Wonder if they will add an electronic wait sign like Finnegan and Pantheon?

Regional parks like BGW just don't give enough time for planning that precisely if you want to go on opening day. I speak from experience since I've had to skip multiple SeaWorld media previews just because they've given me only 1-2 weeks notice and booking airfare by then is prohibitively expensive.

My advice is always to avoid opening day for a new attraction. I don't think the experience of being there for its debut is worth the extra waits and crowds and the greater risk of unreliable or slow operations.
