It’s like people forget this is the same park that just let a brand new coaster sit for over a year as a lawn ornament to maximize its opening’s effect on crowds. Winter might seem logical but I wouldn’t count on that at all.
Unless Kevin realizes, which I’m sure that will happen (not), that cold + heated indoor coaster = more guests, then they’ll open the ride.

It wasn't Kevin's call on Pantheon and I not sure that it will be his call here either. That said we saw a significant amount of crowds early spring with Pantheon opening but honestly I am not sure we saw any more people then we would have seen with a spring opening without Pantheon. Which would bring us back to winter maximizing returns.

Tons of people travel for BGW's CMT for the record. Colonial Williamsburg has always been a hot Christmas destination and CMT has both benefited from that and made it more true.
How far do they travel though? Are we talking day trip or are we talking getting hotels and such? Either way, I honestly never knew that CW was that big of a destination in the winter.

I used to go to CW for Grand Illumination before covid. You had to book a hotel at CW in June otherwise they would sell out quickly. It was also a three night minimum. My friend would stay at the Williamsburg Inn and it cost a fortune. We would stay at the other Inn and it was still around $500 for three nights. It was a huge event but now that they've split it into three weekends I haven't been back for it.

Someone get @Zachary some x-ray goggles so we can get a status article or some shit.

The silence on this project is deafening, maybe because it's the only project I've truly cared about in the past 5 years.
They just need to forget to close the door by the game area again. Two weeks ago when the door was open they were doing foundation a footer work and everything I see on my visits leads me to believe they are still in that stage.

CW is gorgeous in the winter with it decorated for Christmas, candles in the windows, naturally decorated wreaths, music and ice skating in merchants square, a glimpse of what winter might have been like in colonial times.
This certainly changes things. Traveling for parks in the winter doesn't seem to be a thing but when the park is at a destination that does change things. I honestly never knew CW was a popular winter destination. That being said, I think it would still be a different audience in winter vs spring as the point I was making was that a new coaster isn't going to be the deciding factor in enticing most people to travel in the winter.

The other factor is lots of retirees in tge williamsburg area which means lots of people traveling over the river and through the woods to grandma's house in Williamsburg for the holidays
