I've seen a lot of people saying they hope it's a family coaster. It doesn't make sense to do a family coaster with a big scary facade right? Why build a ride for families when the entrance looks terrifying to children.
allow me to introduce to you a family coaster in Staffordshire, England.

Is it gone? I was just there in November and from what I could tell, it's all intact, you can peek in a bit from the penguin exhibit. I thought this was just a shut down from covid that didn't open back up (yet).
I know the attraction near ice breaker is going away though.
At this point, ironically, its been darkastled. No current plans to reopen.

My heart wants a Darkastle themed Cobra’s Curse.. somehow tie in the Big Bad Wolf somehow.

But what if this was the other Intamin coaster that was a part of the rumored 2 for 1 deal? That opens up a lot. Maybe the new single rail coaster?

Here's a better question. Get your trig skills out and figure out how tall the current building is. I would guess theres less than 50ft of clearance in the inside currently.

And Maverick is pretty short for a coaster but still packs a punch...

I couldn't get a good idea of the height this past weekend, but I wonder what the feasibility of raising the roof in select spots if needed would be..

I'm sure someone could go and pull the county's records and get the stated height of the building... Then subtract a few feet to account for the roof supporting infrastructure.

A few years ago we did a walk through tour of the ride/building. The person leading the tour seemed to take a lot of pride in the ride itself but said he wished the cars and screens were closer like some of the Universal rides. Personally I would much prefer another dark ride with Universal quality over an indoor coaster. I say this now without knowing any details of what they're planning, but DK offered something for the whole family that was very entertaining. Even a family coaster doesn't always appeal to everyone. If this is just to up the coaster count, I think they're making a mistake.

Based on the height of the building this project is already very similar in height to the (rumored? canceled?) 2023 Intamin multi-launch that was going to SeaWorld San Diego in the Wild Artic plot. If that project was going to be a roller coaster similar to Wavebreaker with the exposed trains, that model could lend itself well to an in-the-dark roller coaster experience that stays low to the ground, or in this case far away from the ceiling. With the minimal evidence we have now, I'm expecting something along the lines of either:

A) A Wonder Mountain's Guardian styled ride with a brief coaster segment, maybe some sort of unique track element like a tilt-track to differentiate itself from Verbolten, and heavy usage of screens with a possible interactive element.

B) An either launched or traditional lift hill roller coaster with a slow-moving fairly themed start and ending that utilizes physical sets, with the main coaster segments containing light-up scrims similar to Revenge of the Mummy, or a near pitch-black darkness ride experience with off-ride audio.

C) Reutilizing the Eire VR technology for a story-driven roller coaster that has heavy audio elements, requires nearly no changes to the show building, and would help make up for the lack of height.

Whatever this is, this next project has some huge shoes to fill. DarKastle was the most innovative attraction the park ever took on and the chances that it comes even close to what came before it is quite low based on the current thematic additions at SEAS. The queue, facade, and station infrastructure are all there so the only hope is that they can put the majority of the budget into the attraction itself and try to make it something worthwhile.

A Skyline Attractions P'Sghetti Bowl style coaster would be nice. Random, but the interior mad height of about 35, I think based on the rough math of shadow length, the time of day it was, the angle of the sun, the exterior height is roughly 50 feet. I think anything that's going to be in there will likely be powered or launched relying more on transitions than drops.

Vekoma would be a nice other indoor coaster builder. Zamperla's Family Thrill Launch Coaster would be a nice ride. Premier made Mummy so they could be good. An Extreme Engineering Sky Tag coaster would be run.
