I got an email promotion yesterday about upgrading memberships. Just curious since I'm already there. It says "Up To" 30% discount with a platinum pass. Has anybody gotten 30% off of anything recently? I remember getting 30% off of a t-shirt last year but that was about it. So far this year I haven't gotten 30% off of anything that I can remember.

The platinum membership merch discount is supposed to be 30% off most items. However, I guess as a spillover from 2021, my platinum membership gives 50% off merch still. But it still gives the advertised 20% off food and beverage discount that platinum normally gets.

We had a very frustrating experience this weekend.

One of the Platinum Rewards for April was a “double discount” on all food and beverage. We thought Food & Wine was a great place to use it, since we have to order every dish at the event for our review. Our tasting group had three Platinum Members, so we planned to use them at three of the booths.

On Saturday, we presented one at the Mexico booth and the supervisor said, “nope, we don’t take that here.” We insisted that they ask someone and she sent the other cashier, who found a manager who had no problem ringing it up. On Sunday, we tried again at the Jamaica booth, and I honestly failed to check the receipt. He seemed to know how to use it, but in retrospect, who knows what discount I actually received.

Later on Sunday, we attempted to use one at the Turkey booth. Once again we were told that it doesn’t work there. Once again, I insisted that she check. She grabbed some guy who strangely opted to override the system and give me an extra 15%, vice 20%, discount.

I know it sounds kinda petty to complain that my extra discount was 5% less than promised, but in my opinion if Marketing is going to offer these extra perks to entice people to buy Memberships and visit the park, they should make sure we can actually use them. I do not blame the new cashiers who appear to have been thrown in front of guests with virtually no training. But longer term employees should not be trying to avoid dealing with the vouchers by denying that they work. Moreover, the Park should make an effort to ensure that the people working on the front lines do know how to redeem them.

I also know of other people who have also been denied when trying to use the extra discount.

Essentially, I should not have to argue with park employees repeatedly to get the benefits I have been promised.

We attempted to use our food and beverage double discount at two locations yesterday. Once again, no one seemed to know how to get them to ring up. In both cases a supervisor had to do an override and enter the discount manually. One of the cashiers tried to claim that it only worked at "big restaurants" and I had to insist that I could use it at his location.

I think that by now this system should have been fixed and that everyone in culinary would have been trained on it.

Maybe BGW should install these, like SWO just got… (5th picture)

new kiosks are needed for standard purchases, membership perks should not be handled this way though. Not in 2024. Track the damn info on the persons account. POS systems need to do a lot more automatically than they do as well. I worked for Circuit City back in 2004-2006 and the system was pretty good with handling sales and when it wasn't right immediately, it seemed like the Backoffice would fix it. BGW doesn't seem to fix anything when it doesn't work. None of this should be hard for a company that specializes in POS.

I think it really is they want to make the passholders work for their perks by printing the BOCA tickets. So many passholders don't bother with perks because there's an extra step involved.
This is the most likely reason. They know most people won’t go through these extra steps, gets people get these higher level passes because of the extras. Great way for them to ale more profit without giving away what’s promised.

Aha, so the 50% off merch is an old platinum perk? I've been trying to figure this one out, was going to ask in this thread, and then saw your post. I was at the park last year with a platinum pass holder who was getting 50% off all merch, but when I looked into getting a pass myself, it was only 30%. I thought maybe we happened to be there when there was a bonus perk or something.

I'm a new platinum pass holder and have gotten 30% off all the merch I've purchased, at multiple locations.

Edit: Thanks for the merge, Nicole! Felt silly posting two separate replies with the same theme, but couldn't figure out how to do them both at once. It's been a while since I've posted to a board anywhere...

The three new kiosks BGW has at the front of the park did not recognize my memberships. The older kiosks they only have a few of did but two were down and the others were packed. Luckily the two by the entrance only had a person or two wait. There’s got to be an easier way to redeem membership rewards!!

I continue to have this same issue and even went to guests services about it and got a simple those things don't work half the time response. It's really concerning because my understanding is after the summer they plan to replace them all. I would hate to have to wait at guests services every time I need to redeem a voucher.

Since people appear to be looking at both locations I thought I would also post here the info and possible solution.

per guests services today. Some older accounts usd a pass number system that is different from the current system. The new kiosk have a hard time recognizing it. Tech is working on a fix but Supposedly going to guests services and getting them to reprint the pass will update it's number to the current format and fix your issues. I have not tried mine with the new pass number so I can not verify that it does fix the issue

If you are redeeming your 20 passport rewards make sure that you get the qr code for the website to register for the event. You have to register and get an online invitation to register attend.

I reprinted Monday and it did not help.

A membership system that is only 6 years old has bar codes and member numbers out of date…. 🤦‍♀️

That seems like the most Busch Gardens excuse ever for they really don’t know what is going on. Another item to add to the ever improving customer service experience…. /s

Also I noticed tonight that two days worth of passport to summer didn't print names, it just says congratulations. Those were from the new kiosks. I'm sure they will try not to accept them. This whole system is a giant frustration.
