I was glad to have it the way it was. It was still cheaper WITH Christmas Town (until they jack that price up too this year) and WC is useless to us. There is a reason you hear so many complaints. Poor rewards, poorly done. So, be glad about yours, but I'm not glad for mine. To each his own.

I combined 2 of the $10 off rewards (from 2 memberships) to buy a shirt.
See, I wish it had said on the voucher that you could do this. It seemed like too good of a deal that way, so I assumed they wouldn’t let you. And I’ve had trouble with cashiers knowing what’s going on with newly rolled out stuff, so I didn’t bother to ask because it’s usually a hassle. I do appreciate the rewards they are coming up with and I do feel they add value, but I also feel like the implementation could be better. From kiosks not working, to more details on the usability, to keeping staff informed.. there could be some process improvements.

We were told in the Festhaus that we could not combine the Shopping Pass with the $10 Buck. But the Emporium said we could stack them. Always ask around if you don't like the first answer.

This is exactly what I’m talking about. Info should be relayed consistently to the front line so they can be a reliable source to guests. I’m really not trying to complain because I am grateful for extras, but it does get confusing and hearing conflicting things makes me lose confidence in what they tell us.

That's mostly because the majority of employees who work there don't actually have any passion about their job and just kinda use it as a quick way to get money. In a theme park, when an employee doesn't care it is very noticeable.

Good example of an employee who has a lot of passion is the woman who works in the clock/nutcracker shop in Germany, the older German woman, she has been there forever and knows/cares a lot.

Wish more employees cared

My observation is that people have passion for their jobs, when their employers treat them well and demonstrate that they are valued. Maybe BGW should pay their front line employees better and give them benefits.

Additionally, my understanding is that very often they don’t receive either the training or information they need.

Inconsistent information given by front line employees isn’t the employee’s fault, but management. It’s not the employee’s job to make sure they have the tools they need to do their job, but management’s. Yes, there are people that hate their jobs and are only their to collect a paycheck. That’s everywhere. There are people who love their job to no end, and still have issues doing their job properly. Both employees are only going to be able to do their job as well as they are trained to do. “Bad” employees have no incentive to mislead or give false information, they most likely just want you out of their face and don’t want to have to deal with you again. It’s up to management to ensure a corrrect and consistent job is being done. In the end, every employee can only be as good as the people who train and manage them.

Yeah I agree entirely. I consider the management under what I said, usually when a managerial person cares they bother to train thoroughly, whereas one that doesn't, doesn't.

Does the passmember have to be present to allow the “free ticket” guest into the park? Or can they redeem the pass (at the computer station), give it to a family member, and then leave?

Did you ever find out if this is the case? One of my family members can’t go this week but I want to use all of our free passes for visiting family.

Things always seem to change day to day at BGW, but I can say this: Thus far this year, in my experience, the pass holder doesn't need to be present as long as you can redeem the ticket at the kiosk on the day you are going to use it.

Wondering . . . I am a Basic Member and have yet to use my free ticket from the July 4th promotion.

Saturday is a blackout day for me, but wondering can I get the free ticket from the kiosk and then use it for myself? It'd save me $25.

Thanks . . .

Just FYI, I FINALLY got my refund for the park not canceling my season pass when I signed up for membership. The request was submitted in April.

That is a tricky situation, since I am sure if you ask the park directly about something like that, it would probably show a loophole in their system and they would quickly enact a new policy to not allow something like this, since it really is a loophole. That is if you could get away with something like this.

To me, if the ticket itself says it is valid on any day (even blockout) it is usable, and if for some reason the ticket doesn't scan, just go give Guest Relations a hard time and they will give up and let you in. Play dumb and it'll always work. Just don't reveal you have a membership unless you absolutely have to.

Not saying it won’t work, but I don’t think it’s a loophole in their system. Technically speaking, all bring a friend tickets require the member to be in the park as well. With that in mind, it’s reasonable to assume that on blackout days bring a friend tickets shouldn’t work for Basic Memebers. Whether or not that’s the case, you’d have to try that out yourself.

I did not know that the friend tickets required the member to be present. If that is true then I highly doubt it will work.

They have no way to verify that the member is in the park with the friend.

I was able to use a bring a friend ticket on a blocked out day for someone who had a Basic Membership. I, however, have Premier. I think the real question is whether the kiosk will give you access to your benefits on a blocked out day. I fear the only way to find out is to test it (and report back).
