Maybe it's so that guests don't linger given that they're still attempting to be in the good graces of those that can increase their capacity restrictions in the middle of the current pandemic. Or not

To be fair, this might be something we have to get used to now that BGW is a year-round park. Since there's no off-season, things will probably randomly disappear, get repaired, and eventually reappear once they're fixed.

I was at the park yesterday and the gate was open to Royal Palace Theatre (left side) so I took a look and noticed quite a bit of damage to the seats. A number of seat rows were bent forward and there was some plywood covering a section of the seats. I wonder if a recent storm did some damage to the park.

I think what you saw was two things maintenance work being done and the removal of the Ice rink stage from Twas which actually extend over the seating area. This a picture I took from Smoke House a few weeks ago when it was open if you zoom in and look closely you can see several seat backs have been removed for some reason and are lay near the seats you can also see the ice rink add on to the stage largely made of ply wood was still up at that time. Presumably since there were no plans to use it for much till the summer it was still largely in it's Christmas Town 2019 setup when the park didn't open last year.

Also as a side note the gates have been opened as they have been using it as a prep area for the street performers most notable the stilt walkers last month but it is still currently a behind the scenes area and should be respected and treated as such.
