Compared to some other parks, like Six Flags, Busch Gardens is ALWAYS a Golden Age to me xD

I agree. Even though I'm disappointed by BGW's recent actions, they will always be better than any Six Flags or Cedar park in my book.

Me too, they just have better history than all those other parks including disney(sorry lovedocter) and they also have the best theming ever.

eh i wouldn't say BGW's theming is better than disney. BGW gives you a basic idea of what an area in that country could look like and Disney just goes and recreates that country down to the type of grass that grows there. but when you compare BGW to say any other normal one day visit park then yeah its probably the best

Yeah i think i may have gotten carried away but Busch has about the same level of theming of disney, but you have to think about difference in budgets between disney and bg.

I miss the days of Quality over thrills. Going to BGW was like going to a thrilling version of a Disney Park. Awesome shows like Imaginique and Starlight Orchestra, plus amazing theming in attractions. The loss of the "Preshow" in Darkcastle bothers me alot. When the doors closed, everyone was quiet and you could hear the story. Now that the queue keeps moving, the loud people dont even pay attention to it. Every attraction in Ireland was interlaced together when it first opened. Now, there is food with Elmo and a non Irish Europe ride. Griffon at least played the theme music in the queue when it first opened. It is a shame that the speakers in the outdoor queue dont play any music ever. It was the story and theming quality that have started to fade in the past 3 years. Hopefully that reverses soon and we see more shows and storylines, and theming. But we have Mach Tower to look forward to.... A regular drop tower that has no theming at all. Hopefully the new coaster in 2012 has a theme.

I'd disagree that the tower doesn't have a theme. I thought it sounded like it was going to have a maypole theme.

Well put.

Now as i think about it i really never got to expirence alot of those things, actually i never really went to busch gardens alot until last year, and then i got hooked and found this site. But anyways i really wish they would bring the preshow back to dark kastle. They might when traffic for that ride goes down, they have all the things to do it just unlock the sliding door from open position so the pnuematic cylinders can do there job.

This is pretty much the Busch Gardens I latched onto in 2002 when I got hooked. At that time, I felt the theming was amazing and the experience was immersive. Of course, before you really nail the layout, the place seems INSANELY big, and that adds to the spectacle of the thing, but it was more than that. Ireland had an actual theme (with O'Sullivan, Irish Thunder, and Corkscrew Hill), and Imaginique was brand new. Speaking of which, I think that was the best BG has ever been...that summer when Imaginique was new and they were doing impromptu street performances to set up the show.

Those are great memories, man.

Honestly, I think everyone has a different impression of the Golden Age of BG. It all depends on when memories that are formed are more memorable. For me, there is a special place in my heart for the boogie band, the old rifle game in Hastings, Rockin' the Boat, the classical music, Imaginique and more. Sometimes hearing, smelling, or seeing something reminds me of it and that's what makes it amazing.

Really, there is always at least one special thing at Busch that will make a memory for someone of some age. ChristmasTown is quite brilliant and I could see kids now having great memories of it when they get older.

1999. I remember going to BGW at that time and riding Drachen Fire, Apollo's Chariot, Wild Izzy, BBW, Nessie, and Alpengeist. The best part of that is that at that time, the park wasn't nearly as crowded as it is now. I remember about one before before closing time, my older brother and I would go to Drachen Fire and ride it non-stop without having to get off the entire time. Drachen Fire has, by far, my record for most rides, and I doubt that it will ever be surpassed.

Also, the park had a very unique feel to it. I wish I could put it into words, but I don't know where to begin. Those who went to the park around that time know exactly what I'm talking about.

BGW is still my favorite park by far, but I'm worried that it'll become just another theme park.
