But dont they use those same wires for HOS and CT so I dont see them taking them down. Probably just get a bunch of crummy S Street banners.
Maybe this show will be just filler until the 2020 show opens as some are saying on here.
I think we're seeing BGW strengthening it's Sesame Street relationship in the public's eyes. FoF isn't really conducive to present large stage shows without the disruptive tent. This show could be a fairly safe (and inexpensive canned show) marketing test to determine what kind of draw Sesame Street has in light of the potential 2021 third gate (remember that?).
That's the silver lining... if they run this until 2020/21 to build up anticipation for a "Sesame Place in the France Parking Lot (TM)"* and feel they have enough market demand to open SP, officially evict (and/or fence off maybe) Elmo from BGW proper, and can return Banbury Cross to a fairly period appropriate theme---then I'll accept that. I'd rather SP be successful in the parking lot than fail and remain within the faux hamlet of FoF once known as the Royal Preserve Petting Zoo. That said, I (nor kids) do not have any desire for SP and do have concerns about the parking impacts and diverted investment dollars...but that's for another thread. /rant
*Note from other threads (e.g. CoDK) I believe these are coordinated, multi-year plan decisions. So my only tweak to @Lord Robert 's comment is, while I see it as filler, the park probably sees it otherwise, and they could pick other non-Elmo "filler" if that's the sole intent. Rather, I think this is SP pre-launch marketing that just so happens to be relatively cheap and can (hopefully) usher in a breath of fresh air once Elmo leaves the Globe. The park also has a couple of extra years to plan/develop/invest in a new show, and a brand new attraction to tout in 202x.

This^. Missed this comment at first, but we're making essentially the same point. I agree. And hope SP has a big enough stage so the Globe is never needed again.

This they way I see it....BGW can throw the show in with little effort, cast isnt that big, cost will be less than a real show. They look at it like the longer they can keep kids interested the longer parents will stay. The longer parents stay they will possibly eat a meal or buy drinks or snacks. Many parents use BGW as a place they can go and let kids play while they get a break. If this show happens in the globe I fully expect the entire front area to be over run with SS decor and even the background loop....and that sucks.
Before everyone gets all doom and gloom about this, let's not forget that Elmo shows have taken place in the Globe many times before with minimal impact on the hamlet.
I think so, but I wouldn't assume BGW is planning much more than what they did for shorter runs of the show.
PS: The planned alternative to this Sesame show wasn't a Britmania replacement–it was for the theater to sit dark. This is a better solution IMO.

I'm not gloomy. To the contrary, I'm really focused on this silver lining and see the Sesame show as part of the broader plan of a future "Sesame Place in the France Parking Lot" and eventual complete and final eviction of Elmo, as to your point, they've done shows outside of FoF before--but this hopefully is the last.
And I think I was so excited about agreeing with @Lord Robert's silver lining post that I skimmed over the couple posts below it and didn't fully process @GrandpaD's making a similar point--no ignoring intended
Well at least the theater isn't going dark which is much worse, so I guess having anything occupied is the silver lining in all of this. Still this does sound like filler until at least 2020 or 21 depending on what the park has planned.

And I'd guess the Globe Cart/Bus will be laden with "Take Me Home Elmos".
I recently had a thought on a possible reason why Britmania ended. Could it be for the offensive lyrics in the second verse of "Money for Nothing"? I know that those particular lyrics weren't used in the show, but is it possible BG didn't want to be accused of using songs that could be considered offensive? This occurred to me as a preemptive measure before they called out on it.
