RE: 2017 Show Rumors

Speaking of which, the ghost of he who's name shan't be spoken reared it ugly head during one Adele segment. It appeared Catalyst (the program running the projector graphics), or the Macs it runs on, crashed and defaulted to a London Rocks desktop or splash screen (Okay, cue the Mac jokes here). Very likely out of human control, tho' it took a bit too long to get the projectors off. The crowd confusion was interesting to watch.

I'm not posting photos because there is no reason to try embarrass the park. Glitches are the expected norm for dress/tech rehearsals and I still feel this is all in the right direction and wish to encourage that. But it was spooky, nonetheless. However, I'd suggest changing the desktop to something more discreet or generic in case of future occurrences.

Thankfully, these performances until June 30th are called "previews" for a good reason. But that story in particular sounded really spooky. XP

I enjoyed Britmania far more than I expected to. If nothing else, it has pretty lighting and good music. Great way to escape the heat and have some fun; far less torturous than London Rocks.

Rather than being a Mac issue, it seems like they built their show control system off of the same one used for London Rocks rather than rebuilding it from scratch. The park builds their show control systems such as the one in London Rocks off of QLab and the like. It seems like the graphic is embedded so deeply in their system that they don't bother to start over. They usually have a set of Entertainment logos, but London Rocks seems to be the only one that appears.

Are you referring to "the pink screen of death" with the London Rocks logo? I've seen it before. In fact, I've seen it during Scrooge No More. It's kind of funny and a little bit scary at the same time.

RE: 2017 Show Rumors

Indeed it was.

Any other place in the show might have gone unnoticed. It couldn't have happened in a more obvious scene. Unfortunate. But technology will be the downfall of us all.

p.s. Naturally, the projectors where off the reaminder of the show. Which was barely noticeable. More thoughts on that to come.

Not that I care. The 90 seconds posted above is not compelling me to go see Britmania - in fact, it's having the opposite effect. Unless they build a bar or a roller coaster in the Globe, I'm never seeing this show.

I don't expect to change your mind, but I think the first 90 seconds was the worst part of the show. The way they stage their opening scene is too London Rocks-ish. I really expected to see Hersheypark quality at best (not a high standard in my book).

I think the show needs to get into the rock action faster, especially since it doesn't blow me away to begin with. It is entertaining, but not shocking by any means.

One thing that surprised me is how much the monologues set the tones. The problem is that I had little of an inkling to pay much attention, since it was too sappy/plastic. I might have listened to the guy more if the monologue didn't sound like a personal story. I care even less since it's made up. They need to work on that if they want more people to tune in.

The first time I go to watch a show, I analyze everything, but I also try to enjoy it. That's why I think it's a very bad sign if something bores me like that. The historical information however, is too important to abandon entirely.

Edit: Thanks to UncleDuncan for pointing out that the video cut off at 90 seconds. It was undergoing YouTube stabilization, but I guess it didn't make it all the way through. Hopefully the original will fix iself.
Enjoy the full video!

RE: 2017 Show Rumors

Thanks, I was wondering why the original video got cut off. I'm glad the park was at least smart enough to call this a "preview period"; where the show crew can work on fine-tuning the rough edges so the show can be able to fire on all cylinders without any mishaps.

I might make it to the park sometime this weekend so I can finally see it live in person.

The performers all seemed to be doing less shouting and more singing today. I know I had a good seat today, but nobody seemed to have a bad echo or any unnecessary noise.

The musical "punch" when the curtains in front of the staircases drop is a very nice touch. It draws attention to the pretty lights that are about to come on.

Getting better.

Edit: They no longer allow filming.
