I'm getting rid of Bands, Brew, and BBQ. (For now.) The press release that came today mentioned that Glory at the Gardens would begin Busch's concert series this year, and usually B.B.BBQ is before G@G. So I'm going to assume they're doing away with it, unless somebody can prove me wrong.

Switchfoot has been confirmed for June 20th
The Fixx has been confirmed for July 31st & August 1st
And (as you already know.) The B-52s are coming...whenever.

Switchfoot ought to be a huge act.

I'm glad we get Switchfoot this year. KD has gotten them year-after-year, but I don't think they have ever been to Busch.

AandA8104,

Though I don't know your real name; we are going to have so much fun on pass member day if we both get the chance to be there. I was laughing my head off when I saw the video about the 2010 season and the B52's were mentioned. The first thing it thought of was our conversation at this forum.

Keep your finger's crossed for Duran Duran! Woo! ::sigh:: I could play the drums for some Duran Duran songs, though I doubt anyone would show up.

As far as Chris.Kobelt not knowing the B52's. It is OK, I was just told by a girl I worked with that she had no idea what the Saftey Dance was. :-/ It should be a rule that all people of every age must know this song, for it is pop culture gold.

Chris.K: The B52's are by no means the best group of all time; but a fun set of songs to listen to on hot day with a cold beer. Besides, they DO have a song on Rock Band, so they can't be that out of sync with all the young'ns.

AandA8104, it is Karaoke time:

~Boy mercury shootin through every degree
oh girl dancin down those DIRTY and DUSTY trails
take it hip to hip rock it through the wilderness
around the world the trip begins with a kiss

roam if you want to
roam around the world
roam if you want to
without anything but the love we feel~ (cue drum solo... woo!)

Apparently a band called The Influence is scheduled to play at Busch on the same dates as the second weekend of the Action Sports World Tour.(May 15 & 16.) This prompts the question...there bands performing at the skate competition? Because I didn't know about this.

Nora, you play drums, I'll do keyboards and sing. We can make a D^2 cover band. :D And we can cover Safety Dance and do the dance. ;) (btw, that really isn't a one-hit-wonder. They had another song called Pop Goes the World, yes, that's Men Without Hats)

B-52's are a party band. They have some great dance songs. The Duke pep band used to play Rock Lobster and I knew the cheerleaders' moves to it. I grew to hate that song, but now I know all the words and can scream like Kate. :D

I'm also interested in The Fixx concert. I understand they're great in concert.

I do have to say that I'm very happy that they are catering concerts more to my age group. Mostly before it was older groups, christian pop, or new pop.

Kcracken,

The Fixx is a terrific group and highly underrated. I still have some of their albums along with the Cure. I also have the Men w/o Hats albums with both songs you mentioned. I used to be an artistic skater as a kid, so I did nothing else but grow up being brainwashed with every song during the late 70's and all through the 80's. Old skate jams completely ROCK!

By the way, if you go to You Tube and type in "Safety Dance Video Literal Version" it is hilarious. I am not sure if you are familiar with Literal Version Video Spoofs, but my personal favorite is "Total Eclipse of the Heart". When I saw the literal version spoof of that song, I about cried I was laughing so hard.

Yeah, I have a Roland Electronic drum set that I "tinker" with. I am by no means confident enough to play in a band, but it is my goal. My awesome, tech-y hubby has it "somehow" hooked up to Rock Band so that the game can register the hits on my drum pads. The coolest thing is that it really makes me feel like part of a band; in a very delusional and sad way. Although I must say that Rock Band has a whole new level of difficulty with real drums as not only do you have to hit the notes correctly, you have to remember if it is a "crash cymbal or Floor Tom" or "Ride cymbal or Hi Tom" or "High Hat or Hi Tom" as those share the same colors. If you hit the wrong one, it sounds completely weird.

I am very excited to see the Who play on the Superbowl. Of course the legendary Keith Moon has long passed away, but I have hope that whoever is drumming mimics his unique style.

Hopefully, us older rocker types can meet up at the concerts and have fun. If it is from the 80's - I will be there. Some current Bands I enjoy are Modest Mouse, Muse, Coldplay, and Dave Matthews.

Here is to Busch Gardens bringing in some retro talent! :D

I'm glad we have someone keeping up with the concerts. Thanks FlyerMiles. I'm not a fan of Bluetree, but there isn't anything wrong with them.

They officially announced all the Glory at the Gardens concerts on the website.

Thanks for the update!

I'll be there on the 20th & the 27th for Switchfoot and Third Day (they are the only ones who interest me).
