This project has been a perfect collaboration from the start.

Because that line had no Public Rela spin to it at all. I would imagine that neither of them will say on record Cameron was ready to take his IP and run.

Anytime you see any interview on the making of a movie or something, they are always going to say, "Oh everyone on set is wonderful. We are all the best of friends." Except we all know that actors and directors have creative differences and don't get a long. Same applies here, its a fed line for an interview.

Like the Bruckheimer Disney split a week or so ago. BAD BAD BLOOD there.

DAK really needs an expansion, but I still don't like the idea of Avatar. Unless the sequels bring a major increase in quality, Avatar will not have the staying power of other franchises like Star Wars and even Harry Potter. DAK already has a problem with disunity in the theming across the park, and an expansion should help solve that problem. Avatar only disjoints the overall theming even more. Africa and Asia go together, but having Dinoland and Avatar as the other main areas is just strange to me. I feel like this is Disney's way of trying to replicate the mass popularity of IOA's Harry Potter, but this plan seems shortsighted to me. They are totally different beasts.

That being said, James Cameron knows what he is doing, and it is good that Disney is keeping him on for this project. T2 was awesome and innovative when it debuted in the 90s. I'll be interested in seeing what the new nighttime show and safari looks like. It's just sad that Avatar Land won't be arriving until 2017 now. DAK really needs something new ASAP. By the time this hits, it'll pretty much be a decade since their last major attraction/expansion.

Here's some concept art of Avatar-land that they are proposed to build. This is going to be pretty cool give the level of detail they put into their parks. This should give a nice revamp to the AK park. Aside from Everest, it's kind of a slower park to visit due to the animal safari.

^ Ditto on going to BGT versus DAK.

I keep forgetting they're adding Avatar to DAK, mainly because the movie sucked and weird, pornographic blue people have no appeal to me. I'm still confused why Disney is including this IP in their park.

I'm incredibly interested in Rivers of Light. I love World of Color. If Rivers of Light can even come close to that level of quality, I'm sold.

Adding to this, avatar has 0 relevance right now. In 2009 when it came out people loved it. But you certainly don't hear about it nowadays. Which just makes this all the more confusing to add. Its obviously a knee jerk reaction to hp at universal, but its clearly several years too late, with an IP that nobody even cares about.

The movie itself was very pretty. And it was extremely successful in theaters. But the story was the same old story we've seen a thousand times before.and honestly the park should have just kept the bad Pocahontas show they had and expanded that. Because it's literally the same plot to avatar.

Ak needed something to go in the park, but avatar certainly won't be the answer. I do have faith in the imagineers to make it a stunning area, but just about nobody cares about avatar.

I'm sure the sequels will offer enough of a boost to get people interested again.

Cirque du Soleil is premiering their new Avatar-based show "Toruk - The First Flight" next Thursday.  This production could possibly help drum up interest in the Avatar franchise again as it will be playing a different city every week.  This show is supposedly set thousands of years before the film so it could serve as a prequel to the world of Avatar.  I'll be seeing the show at the Richmond Coliseum at the end of this month.
