anyone ridden aquazoid amped today, if so, how was it?

Rode it earlier this afternoon. It was a lot of fun! The light show inside the tube is a definite upgrade to the ride experience. The light rings change color in a chase pattern as you slide through those sections, I believe those sections are the ones that used to be open air. The first section of the ride has been updated with lights and the inside of the tunnel is now white.

You could see what looked like speakers on the top, inside the tube. Does anyone know if the ride is supposed to have music playing? That would make the ride even better!

This is a win for Water Country USA. The tower looks great, everything in the queue has been painted, tons of new signage, and the ride is awesome!

that sign is revolting, and yes there should be music. why its not playing on its first preview day is beyond me. hopefully its playing tomorrow when i ride

Yeah, sad to hear you got a ride without music @willrobs3. That is supposed to be like a very core part of the new ride experience. Not a good look to be running the thing without one of its most important new elements on day one...

Either way, huge thanks for the photos and impressions! The white tube with lights sounds like it could be super neat on paper!

Glad I didn't know about the music beforehand. Really hope they have it on tomorrow because it would absolutely make that ride even better. One things for sure that ride will be slam packed all summer.

We rode 7 times today. I hated the original because it made me dizzy in the dark tunnel. This is a vast improvement! Didn't really bother me because you can now see where you're going, except the end which is unchanged. The new tower is really nice. They have a new scale like all the new rides.

There appeared to be some extra lights in the white tunnel portion that were large circular disc things that weren't working. We heard the music once out of 7 rides. Music was cool, not sure what happened the other times.

On the last ride for us the tube in front of us got stuck near the top, it was 3 fairly small kids. We slammed into them and dislodged them. Luckily nobody was hurt and we just followed down right behind them. They may need more water or a minimum weight.

Overall really good ride. I just hope they maintain it.

Glad the ride experience is getting good marks, but can we get a moment of silence for the Aquazoid monster? I figured the demise of the 50s movie monster theme was inevitable based on the ride’s new logo, but I’m still sad to now definitively see that it’s gone. It was such a clever twist on the park’s once-prominent 50s motif, and I loved the presence it had with the 50s movie billboards, signage, and tie-ins to other sci-fi themed attractions in the area. Definitely feels like a part of the park’s character has been lost with this de-theme.

Rode it 4 times on Sunday opening - 1pm. Never heard the music.

The ride is kinda fun but pretty tame. I find it a bit more fun when I end up going backwards.

around 0:28 you can see “BAM” and “KERSPLAT” painted on the inside of the slide. This may be wishful thinking, but maybe they’re not completely abandoning the 50s comic book theme…

As an aside, gate supervisor said they had 10,000 guests yesterday, and expecting close to the same today.

I’d imagine this heatwave this weekend definitely pushed that attendance number up a lot higher than they normally would have for their second weekend of operation the year.

I was there on Sunday. Didn't look all that crazy crowd-wise.

On topic though: I never experianced the original Aquazoid so I am curious.
The air inside aquazoid was getting really really warm around noon on Sunday already.
It was at a point where I felt it unpleasant to ride because it made it harder to breathe. (not at a dangerous level, but I can't say I enjoyed it)

I am not sure if that is supposed to be part of the experience or just a side-effect of the black tube, but I wonder what that will do once we have several days of temperatures in the 90s in a row.

That is a good question. Aquazoid use to have several open air sections on the ride before the renovation.

Along with the apparently rarely working music, temps here will definitely be something worth watchin' out for.

I would think they should place some misters throughout the ride. While it would make the ride humid, it would keep you wet.

Malibu Pipeline is enclosed the entire way as well in a black tube, and I never thought that ride got too hot/humid. But then again, it does feel like you get splashed more on that ride.
