News Aquatica San Antonio Project 2024: "Big Surf Container" Restaurant?

Aquatica might be getting a new restaurant, which will replace the previous aldabra tortoise exhibit (which was flattened out). A permit was submitted in February for a kitchen, which will be constructed using 3 shipping containers. The architect that is working on this project (Sol Studio Architects) has worked on many projects for SWSA including Coaster Coffee Company and Turi's Beach Bar. A new restaurant would be a great addition for Aquatica. It will be completed in June.

Thank you for sharing this! I have not been to Aquatica recently, and the video that I saw from opening day showed the old tortoise exhibit fenced off. I should have looked at the park map.

The permit for the kitchen has been issued. We should see construction start soon.

Surfside Chicken Hut (Big Surf Container) is now open! I think they did a good job at making the storage container look nice and fit into Aquatica.
