I remember riding Anaconda when it first opened. The tunnel was so unique and exciting. Over the years I would avoid as it was so rough, but it was exciting to watch my kids experience and I still hold fond memories and enjoy its iconic placement.

I understand business/financial decisions need to happen, and am disappointed, but can only hold out hope that they will make up for it with a great new addition (but not holding my breath for too long).

@Zachary your micro screen capture that you’re distributing has a typo, KD is at 16000 Theme Park Way and not 1600. I failed to find it on the Hanover County permits directory regardless. ;)

For the rest of you however my associate with access to construction bids did some further digging in that direction and was kind enough to share this;

Yep. It was filed incorrectly on their end. On the spectrum of errors I see in these databases, that's minor. 😋

It's not a Hanover County permit (or a permit at all). As the article says, it's a utility marking ticket.

Honestly once the attraction is gone, I wouldn’t hate to see water entertainment return.
Could use the “hill” to add a theater area, bring back the waterski show or maybe a new show akin to Cinesational, involving fireworks, drones, and water features?
Then the area that the anaconda station occupied could used for a new flat or two, with a new bathroom back there.

What we got next on the SFEC attraction Deadpool? Sad to see the bigger arrows go but I felt pretty indifferent about my one ride on Anaconda
My brother and I are actually looking at the parks tomorrow when he gets back from Japan (in time to spend Christmas on both sides of the world!), making our own lists of the next coaster removal we think we’ll see at each park, and playing the long game to see who gets the most points.

Maybe not so much the long game at this rate.

It could also be a product of a common procedure or decision making process not being in place for removals yet. They may just be winging all of these this season before settling into more of a routine with the process going forward. Completely talking out of my ass but it's a thought.

If it IS financial issues, I hope these removals solve them. And I hope the savings go toward guest experience, not to their shareholders' pockets.

Yes but these removals even with recycling the steel are going to be a fairly significant experience item. Yes they are one time expenses but At least in Anaconda's case it's hard for me to imagine that they couldn't have run it for a season at close to the same cost saved.

When do we think well start seeing it come down?

I think the best possible situation would be a quick off season demo given that JungleX is going to the spotlight of the 50th.

I’m more concerned about King Kobras footers being removed than this bottom-of-the-barrel Arrow Coaster.

I agree that not making formal announcements for ride closures suck, even for shitty rides like Anaconda; however, even I would have made the trip to ride this piece of shit one last time - Thinking of the million possible good things (spoiler: planting just one tree on the plot would be good for me) that could eventually replace it.

The way they are demolishing it without prior notice is definitely shitty. But this offseason removal compared to the others was the most justified so far IMO.

HUGE plot of land in PRIME real estate. Shitty ride with bad customer feedback. Saves the park roughly 150k just in labor hours too which would be much better allocated for a ride like Rapterra.

Really can't imagine what the hell theyd put in the plot. I mean it could literally be anything. I don't see them dragging jungle X additions out another 5 years. It's been a long remodel already. At some point it's time to move around the park. Old virginia is a very dead and boring area of the park that could use some rides. In the summer the water rides are there but during Haunt and Winterfest the only reason I even go over there is the bathroom and Food building since it's a less busy area. Theres so much land over there to do stuff with.

I hope they use the scrap money from Andy to repave the god awful parking lot

I really, really hope we never see another coaster built over Lake Charles. KD doesn't have much in the way of water. Taking up the largest body of water with a coaster is just... not good. KD has infinite amounts of land. We should use that instead of cluttering up Lake Charles.

Can we steal King Kobra back from Hopi Hari?🤣

Real though, the ground Ana's lift sits on is pretty narrow, so it really depends on if they want to build something in the lake. Walibi Belgium's new Gerstlauer family launch coaster looks really intriguing, appearing to punch way above its weight, even with (I believe) a 40" height requirement.

I echo the comment above, I would much rather see the Lake cleaned up and made a true highlight of the park, rather than another ride built over it. I only can see pictures of how it used to look back in the day, but I would love to see it return to that.

There should be a coaster INTERACTING with the lake absolutely. Like a dive or something. But there shouldn't be a coaster covering the entirety of it.

I never noticed King Kobras footers. Where are they?

Underneath and parallel to Anaconda's lift. They're kinda hard to see because they've sat in the grass for ~40 years but you used to be able to see them going up the lift on Anaconda.

Or if you were doing low zone clearing you could break your ankles on them because landscaping skipped out on trimming the grass that week.
