It vibrates like crazy toward the back, but riding in the front a few times was oddly really smooth. I guess the new trains really helped a lot. I'd say stay away from the back seats and you should be good.

I don't think I could bring myself to sit anywhere except the back seat. I blame my high-school physics teacher. She taught us the superiority of the back at BGW, in fact, at one of those geeky physics days.

Same here Nic back seat always the best on ALPIE

The back seat is always the best on any coaster! (I say that, understanding that rough rides just get worse...)

And 98% of coasters I do ride back row. I just can't with Alpengeist anymore (sadly). My head doesn't hurt afterwards, just during the ride. Not fun

It occurs to me that if I didn't insist on riding in the back, I might not need to carry Tylenol in my purse at the park. Not that any amount of painkillers will fix what some rides can and have done. I am looking at you Drachen Fire and Mantis.)

The first couple rows shouldn't be too bad for this ride. Front row definitely felt almost Griffon/Apollo smooth. There's a rattle in rows 2 and 3 but it's not as bad as it used to be. Not sure about the other rows because I prefer sitting toward the front on this.

Most of the time Alpengeist never has a wait so getting onto it (even front row) shouldn't be too bad.

Apollos is just as shaky in the back as Alpengeist is. The only reason we don't mind it is because Apollo's doesn't have over the shoulder harnesses that bang your head around, now I don't mind a rough ride, so Alpie doesn't bother me, and I like riding it. I've noticed the past few years that towards the end of the season most rides start to get rougher. But once maintenance is done it comes back a little better after the off season then it will get even more rough towards the end of the next season and so on. The flaw in coasters like Alpie, Apollo's, and Verbolten is that those type of coasters cause so much stress on the track and trains that year after year they just get rougher and rougher. I believe eventually if they replace the trains that most of the problems will be fixed, but there still will be some roughness. Unlike Loch Ness monster which puts little stress and ware on the track, that's why Loch Ness monster has stayed relatively the same in terms of roughness. It's simple; More stress= More roughness, less stress= less roughness. Sorry I've done extensive research on roller coasters, so sorry if I ranted a little.

I never feel the rattling from sitting in the back of AC. And I never said Alpengeist was rough, I said it rattles and my head feels like its vibrating. My head doesn't bang against the harness. And this has been happening from March-Now. I noticed it for the first time I believe last season. I could ride this ride 15 times and be fine. Now I ride it once, and I don't want to ride it again

For the record, Apollo and Verbolten are NOT rough in the back - at least not as rattly as Alpengeist. Yes you can feel the rattle more on Apollo/Bolt in the back, but all other coasters are like that too.

So, I kept this conversation in mind last night, and AC did NOT feel rough to me in the back seat. I was on the far right. Tony was on the far left and said there was one slightly rough bit. But also, it was raining by then.

^You are pushing the "creepy" level to the max right now... :p

After all, we were creeped out enough by certain nurses being attracted to a certain werewolf...

I don't now if this has already been shown, but I'll post it anyway. ;)
While doing a lovely search on the internet, I came across a poster of Alpengeist. I don't know if it was a poster before or after it opened, but it's cool, none the less. Enjoy!! :)
