B&M never could get the corkscrew right.

Yea that zero-g/corkscrew right after the MCBR along with the snappiness of the cobra roll (it's the only B&M that slaps that hard on it IMO) just bash my head into the restraints and induce vertigo/dizziness right away.

Cobra roll slaps like a mofo.
I always gotta make sure my shoes are strapped on tight

I feel like the cobra roll has gotten more intense over the years, though I'm guessing I've gained more mass and thus feel it more...

This is my pro-tip for any park, I wear slip on shoes and no socks so I can go barefoot when I want to. Not every singe time but sometimes. Especially on hot days.

Anyways, yea that's the only B&M Cobra Roll that gets me like that too.

There’s just something so cool about going so fast under a track in such an aggressive way. Alpengeist is still my all time favorite invert and while I don’t rank coasters by numbers, I’d put it in my A+ Tier.

Awhile back on the forum (can’t find it now as posts were all removed for reasons - thanks again for the help admins) I remember sitting on every single seat on Alpies train in one day just because I was interested in the differing ride experiences and I couldn’t quite pick a seat that I liked the most. Every seat is pretty crazy in its own way... That cobra roll can’t be compared to anything else.

Unpopular opinion - Alpengeist has one of my favorite drops on a coaster. I couldn’t even explain why but it always manages to put a smile on my face.

This thread's comments remind me that B&M were no strangers to surprisingly intense and/or headslappy moments with some of their early inverts.

Raptor's final helix and then that twist into the final brake run... Montu before they installed the trim brake approaching the batwing and dialed the MCBR up to 11... wild and wooly moments.

At that time, the de facto standard for high speed looping rides was getting the happiness comprehensively beaten out of your skull by a ride as unassuming looking and drawn out as Anaconda or CP's Corkscrew. Getting tagged in the head or hammered into your seat only one or two times by the restraint on one of these crazy-whippy new inverted coasters was revelatory. It was a smoother ride than a great many people would have thought possible.

For reference, Mantis was considered surprisingly smooth and re-ridable upon opening. Mantis! (Including by me.) And I'll defend Great Adventure's Green Lantern standup to the end of my days. Nothing wrong with it at all. I find it more enjoyable than Superman next door, and not just for the rusting jet in the queue.

The Harry Traver veterans in the 1990s looked at me and wondered how someone who rode a lot of "scenic railways" had never slipped a disk or compressed vertebrae on a ride. I look at 20-ish year olds and wonder why they object to Alpengeist's "pay attention to me" temple slaps. These kids seem to want to keep all their brain cells. What good is it to have so many? You've got 'em, might as well put a few on the line and see what happens.

Never rode it until just a few years ago, but man it is rough IMO. That MCBR is a killer for sure. Conversely, rides like Montu (1 year older than Alpengeist), is a lot smoother IMO.

I was once waiting in line and 3 groups ahead of me a nun got on the ride in full nun garb. After she got off, the train on the next cycle got stuck on the lift hill and we decided not to ride.

Moral of the story? Alpengeist has frequent mechanical issues.

Clearly the Alpengeist is an evil spirit, and the nun simply exorcised it. Alpie cannot run without pure evil coursing through her MCBR.

So is this spirit more or less evil than the Spirit of the Forest on Verbolten?

(Disclaimer: not ride bashing here, just discussing spirits)

Why can't the Alpengeist be as chill as Avalanche's spirit from when Cedar Fair experimented with augmented reality at Kings Dominion?

...I guess he's a different kind of chill.

You’ve honed your ability to connect anything to Verbolten to a rather impressive science. We should start a thread challenging this ability by throwing random topics at you to really see what you’ve got. Could be entertaining.
