How are those times at other places calculated? I know at Universal I was told they will pick someone in line via camera's and track them through the cue until they get on the ride. They average out how long for every so many people per time period.

EX:
They track 5 people within 5 minutes, and they get on the ride in 31, 32, 28, 29, 31 minute, they post a 30 minute wait time.

Some places I've seen do a "if the line is here, they wait is this".

In both Williamsburg and Tampa, that is usually all up to whoever updates the wait times. I have also seen some spot on wait times in Tampa. Maybe they can use a system that will do automatic updates.

At disney, they give someone a landyard and tell them to give it to the ride attendent wghn they get on the ride. That way they can calculate how long it took for that person to get through.

So basically a lot of easy ways for them to track the times without investing much money.

A good way to guesstimate wait times

Griffon (3 trains) station = 10 mins, first line = 15 mins, queue house = 20-25 mins, near entrance = 25-30, first overflow to entrance = 30-45, past entrance 45+

Alpengeist (2 trains) station = 10 mins, station to ramp = 15 mins, in queue house = up to 30 mins, back deck = 40-45 mins, going toward entrance = 60 mins, going into overflow = 70 mins+ (pretty rare to go past 40 mins)

Loch Ness (3 trains) station = 10 mins, station to ramp = 15 mins, queue house (guesstimate 40 mins) I rarely ever see the line hit that anyway.

Verbolten (5 trains) station = 10 mins, bridge to back office = 15 mins, back deck 20-25 mins, Gerta's office = 25-30 mins, front deck wraparound = 30-40 mins, garden = 40-45 mins, to Mach Tower plaza = 45-55 mins. If line isn't queued up, its 25 mins in the front office.

Apollo (3 trains) station = 10 mins, to bridge = 15 mins, back bridge 25 mins, toward tent = 30 mins, half full tent = 35 mins

Tempesto station = 10 mins, bridge = 15-20 mins, queue house = 20-30 mins, corner to entrance = 30-40 mins, past entrance = 45 min+. If the line is a straight shot its about 30-35 min to entrance

i could understand having a news report about an evac that involved an actual malfunction due to equipment failure, or natures fury 'the goose'. But to have the coaster operating normally 15 minutes later is NOT news worthy. It brings unneccessary negativity toward the park for what is essentially 'normal' procedure.

Sweet! God that clanking was deafening! It was so loud it would deter me from riding sometimes, and every time I did ride I covered my ears. Excellent news indeed! Thank you!

I presume the noise reduction is due either to the replacement of certain wear items on the vehicle, or the addition of eddy-current-driven magnetic tech on that same system.

...Or did Alpengeist already have the magnetic tech for the vehicles' ratchet pawls?
