Also, be ready to pick up your FL+ as early as possible. We showed up about 10 minutes late to the park back in July and ended up waiting over 20 minutes for the FastLane line just inside and to the right of the entry gate. Maybe someone else knows if there are other options to get the wristband.

I know the app shows another FastLane location back near Windseeker, but the staff member organizing the line at the front location told us that there was only one location to redeem the FL purchase. No idea if this was misinformation - we just waited it out.
At both Knotts and Cedar Point, you can pick up your wristbands at most retail locations, not just the little stands set up. Guessing CW is the same.

There’s a gift shop across from Windseeker next to Slingshot that sells FastLane. It opened around 11AM when I purchased one a few weeks ago.

I am going to take a likely unpopular stance.

I fully acknowledge that the coaster looks great, and by all accounts the experience is insane. That said, I simply can’t get past the multi-pronged insult to one of my home parks. CW couldn’t come up with anything other than a fully-derivative name and theme?

Everyone keeps calling it the “spiritual successor to Volcano.” It certainly looks as if it fits. The problem is that Volcano was at KD. What on earth is any attraction linked to it doing in Canada? To add insult to injury, the fact that it was built around an existing mountain and other rides makes it harder to believe that KD’s historic mountain had to be ripped down to make room for a new attraction. So, yeah. I’m already starting off a bit salty about this.

The first half of its uncreative name, “Alpen,” sounds a lot like another snow-covered mountain themed coaster at BGW. So, now they have picked a name for Volcano’s spiritual successor that seems like a copy of a ride at KD’s biggest competitor. Rude.

The second half of the dialed-in name makes one think of an amazing giga at Carowinds. About 15 years ago the local government offered tax breaks that resulted in Caro becoming the regional flagship park, leading to proportionally less investment in KD. So, this spiritual successor also harkens to a park that hurt KD financially. Also rude.

So, yeah. I am sure it is an absolutely fantastic ride. But I just can’t get that ashy taste out of my mouth.

I’ll take your unpopular stance one step further:
It makes the area around it look cluttered and just as bad as Steel Curtain, especially in drone shots. So many supports and such a stark color compared to everything else in the area.

I'll keep this going, i absolutely HATE how it impacts the wonder mountain sightline. It had been (mostly) unimpacted from the main view when you enter (to my knowledge, ive never been) from vortex, WMG, Thunder Run. But now Alpenfury kinda.. ruins it. dont get me wrong the tradeoff was most likely worth it (havent ridden) but it just kinda upsets me (old pic attached) 1756328046158.png

@Thrills & Chills WQAQ, good point indeed!

And as reference for everyone: here's a current sightline of the mountain when you walk into the park - where of all the coasters that interact with the mountain, none are visible, except for AlpenFury.

The name may not be super creative, but that doesn't seem to be a big deal to me. There's a lot of unimaginatively named coasters, and what matters most is is the coaster good, which this certainly seems to be. The view of the mountain: it's worse now, I suppose, but it's a coaster you are looking at, at an amusement park, not a billboard. I like seeing coasters and seeing the coaster shoot out of it should look great. I hope to get to the park some year soon and ride this thing. Looks amazing.

This weekend I finally went out to my home-away-from-home park, mostly to get on Alpenfury. I love the theming changes to the area around the station, and the station itself looks great! The coaster is also terrific, and exactly what wonderland needed... Except for the capacity. I clocked one train every minute and a half for a whopping 640pph, at best. I hope the park can speed that up in future seasons. Even adding an unloading station would trim 20-30 seconds off each dispatch.

It does not seem to be affecting capacity. They added a small queue area after the metal detector and before you get assigned your row that holds 18 people. They are easily getting everyone through the metal detector in time for them to be assigned a row. That being said, that is an easy accomplishment as they are still missing the dispatch interval by 20-30 seconds.
In brighter news, they have added movable barriers outside the emergency exits in the queues to make it harder to enter through them.

Back to improvements needed, they overuse the single rider line, which removes seats available from the normal and rich people line (the single rider line does get brutally long). I think they should get rid of the single rider line, and use the extra line for odd number groups. (Have someone assign which staircase based on if you have an even or odd number of people in your group, and pull from the respective lines to keep the waits even.)
