There was a construction tour yesterday, friends participated and although you'll hear more from the interviews there be a handful of interesting points;

Trains
Lapbar only, no comfort collars or seatbelts. As shown in the animation, the triangular sides have been removed at the park's request, partially for aesthetics and partially to ease load/unload. That's right, Premier Rides is at last making some kind of effort to improve the Sky Rocket train, although I wouldn't expect any further design fixes.

Loose Articles
They don't want to install netting around the coaster, so expect an incredibly strict loose articles policy. They'll be using a combination of metal detectors and the fancy flying bins system seen on Yukon Striker and WMG, although logistics aren't fully figured out yet.

Station
Most of the queue at least should be below the station. Fast Lane and Standby will merge before the stairs, single rider's line will go to the top. Pretty much the setup currently being tested out on Behemoth. Platform will have room to park both trains inside (don't expect an unload). Floor will fold away during dispatch, not sure why it's strictly necessary but eh.

Technical
Transfer track not being seen in the animation wasn't a fluke; it will be located inside the mountain. Indoor section will be partially but not fully enclosed. Coaster height extends roughly 75 feet above the exit point on top of the mountain. That funny floating support in the animation will be connected to the ground irl. They want this thing doing 1,000+ pph, which means 60 dispatches per hour. Absolutely ludicrous figure but we'll see how it goes.

Okay this park is nuts. On two seemingly random weekdays this week, a lot of rides have overflow queues filled up, spilling out into the midway. This includes Fast Lane lines.

I really hope they figure out a way to maximize capacity on AlpenFury. Even so, it’s possible they don’t even include it with Fast Lane next year. If they do, they need to raise the price by quite a bit. They honestly already need to.

They are removing the toe boards from the trains to have a flat floor train that is easier to enter / exit. This means your feet are less restricted and the rider envelope is larger, so the floors fold to get them out of the way of the leg envelope while the train is moving.

I know the shin guards can't be removed due to the train design but I'd LOVE to see them made a little thinner/less restrictive. They might as well while they're tweaking the rest of the train

The belief is that the brown supports are only in the station area to better blend with the surrounding structures, right? I agree that the light blue and brown don't work at all, but I'll have to wait to see it in use in place before I judge the decision.

Light blue and brown are a classic color combination. Source: years of shopping.

How far away from the park is Sudbury? Asking for Shoresy.

I am so happy to see the car without that annoying bar to step over while boarding, this will speed up boarding greatly. They still did not fix the issue of the back row, although riders with shorter legs will have no clue what I am talking about.
It's such a shame though that they did not take this opportunity to introduce a four train car, as a 33% boost in theroyetical capacity would have been very nice for this ride.

I don't think it's a stretch to say that this ride is a spiritual successor to Volcano. Besides the "nod" to drachenfire on steel curtain, I can't think of any other instances that a ride was made in a park in a completely different market, which could be described as such to another defunct coaster. If that isn't worded horribly.

Hey all, yesterday I attended the AlpenFury construction tour. You can find a detailed writeup and photo report linked below, but I know you'd all prefer two things from me instead; information and highlight pics.

Preemptive answers, debate them as you will;
  • Station will have a fancy flying bins system like Yukon Striker, no metal detection. Pocket sized articles only, anything larger must be left in a paid locker.
  • Some netting will have to exist here and there.
  • Entrance will repurpose one of the concession buildings in front of the station, queue will be mostly outdoors.
  • Approximately 40% of 52 track pieces have been put up.
  • Opening timeline is still simply "late Spring"
  • Premier was selected because they were the only manufacturer on the RFP list able to deliver a huge large scale coaster within ~2 years of sign-off (September 2023).
  • Transfer track inside the mountain will also include access to a full-time maintenance shop, which will service the trains in the offseason without them ever leaving the mountain.
  • Holy shit that's a giant amount of infrastructure they've built inside.
