RE: New Show for 2016: All For One

I haven't seen the show, nor, of course, do I care if I ever see it. That said, I'm not sure I follow the logic that it is reasonable for a show to start out very bad and improve over the season. That is what dress rehearsals are for. Everyone expects small adjustments over a run, but a show's opening night is supposed to be essentially as good as closing. Actually, I usually expect opening night to be better than the second night.

RE: New Show for 2016: All For One

When they have one night for a real dress rehearsal... I really don't know what to say. I like what I've seen so far and I understood it. I just want to give them time to fix their unexpected shortcomings.

Then, I want to post a review. That's why I'm holding off on my unsolicited thoughts of the first show. I think it's unfair to everyone (the current circumstances). I'm not sure if I should go with the saying "The show must go on!", or "Give it time." They obviously chose to perform, come what may. I'm not sure if it was the right decision or not, but we could still be waiting for the show to premier for all we know.

RE: New Show for 2016: All For One

I think part of my point is it is beyond unprofessional to put sonething on stage that clearly still needs significant rehersal time.

If the park invited guests to see dress rehearsals and labeled them as such, then it would acceptable. I am not, however, willing to give them a pass or time to improve if they tell me that I am watching their final product.

If they were going to need more time to practice, they should planned better.

RE: New Show for 2016: All For One

I agree more than you know. I enjoy seeing the process that the cast goes through to reach the final product. However, other people may not have that luxury. The thing that crushes me is that people leave thinking Busch Gardens is going to leave it like that. Most people don't even know that the show is new.

A similar thing happened at SeaWorld Orlando with Blue Horizons. The show was in the same shape as All For One, because the flight rigging was down for inspection. That's more than half of the show tied into using that system- even the "blue horizon" itself.

Sadly, this type of thing happens and I have gotten used to it. It shouldn't happen, and I surely shouldn't be used to it. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I always support the cast and crew, especially if I think their show has hope (sorry, London Rocks). We've already been over the possibility of bad casting, and how people like myself would react then, but I just don't think that is the issue.

This has become a chain-wide issue, and it needs to be addressed. That should be part of their new transparency plan.

RE: New Show for 2016: All For One

I have a sense, that once again the parks reach has significantly out stretched its grasp. I suspect it will be several seasons till the stink and rot of Scott and his merry band of morons has dissipated. That kind of pure ineptitude takes time to clean up. Further there is still a problem with a certain, and I use this term VERY loosely and exceptionally advisedly, choreographer. Quality talent is hard to find, expensive to keep, and sometimes difficult in the extreme.

RE: New Show for 2016: All For One

^True. When performers find out that they have been put into a bad show in hopes of improving it, they likely won't come back for another season. We have lost some of our best performers because they felt like they were being used. Not that that has much relevance to this show.

I will say this: I have a lot of faith in the BG people who have been appointed to work on this show. This type of "mess" is just unprecedented to them. I wouldn't expect this type of thing when such an expensive contractor is working the ground controls.

RE: New Show for 2016: All For One

Lets not forget about the corporate nature of the park as well. The park as we ell know has a limited budget. I feel that the push to gewt the cast trained and started so fast and get the show performing was mostly from outside entertainment. While the performers get paid for every minute they are in the park, that doesn't make money. While it certainly would be very transparent to advertise the early showings here as an open rehearsal, I can't imagine that the park would ever do that. Give the feedback, as directly as possible. Be constructive. BGW absolutely does not have the sort of budgetary immunity that Disney can afford. I can't think of any park that has these sorts of shows with any measure of real performance value outside of those two(correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not exceptionally well traveled).

I just saw it yesterday. I think if they tighten up and speed up the fighting and fencing choreography and rehearse to tighten up the rigging work it'll get it where it needs to be for a theme park show. The set construction was awesome, the show is fun, the music was good and fitting. ...and, the fake fighting sound effects were mis-timed, kinda cheesy, and didn't happen all the time so it was hard to see what sound was for what punch or kick.

RE: New Show for 2016: All For One

We were at the 10pm showing last night. My 10yr old daughter loved it. My 6yr old son did his best zombie impression(could have been interest in the show, but I suspect it was the result of a long day of activity). My wife is not a theme park nut and as such knew nothing of the show going in. Once over, she asked me if the show theme was a comedy of errors with a musketeer backdrop. I know nothing of theatre, but am a tech lover so I judge shows on effects so here is what I saw. The pre show was hokey, but I have no problem with it at all as they are creating a unique moment for 4 vacationers and their families, and that is one of the things that makes Disney so special. The assistants mic cut out after his opening and The leads mic didn't work until the last 5 mins. The villainess's mic had feedback for the whole show. I saw a few guns fail to go off and the water blast timing was off 2 times. I guess Luke's bird was right because I didn't see any pyro other than the flames.

If I were in charge of this show I would just run with the errors. Run to Walmart and buy some neon poster board and black leotards. Cutout a bunch of blam! Pow! and boink! signs and give it that old Batman tv series vibe.

Finally saw it for myself. A bit Cheesy here and there but I actually liked it overall. One of their better attempts in my opinion

Saw it last night, strong wind was the cause of not doing the pyro effects and two mic feedbacks but other than that I thought this show was actually really good. Definitely one of Busch Gardens better shows in a long time, I actually would see it again a few times.

Sorry for the double post but one of my friends who is really picky when it comes to Busch Gardens shows saw it during it's first week and really liked it with this to say: "As soon as the minor details are fixed, I think we have a Busch Gardens The Old Country quality show on our hands". Which is a statement I most certainly agree with.

RE: New Show for 2016: All For One

We saw the show again the other night and everything worked other than one splash effect. Me and the kids like the show, while my wife and mother believe that the show is ok, but not worth the walk out.

Yay had fireworks this evening.

That's good to hear, are they new or are they the same as the ones during the first week?

RE: New Show for 2016: All For One

I wonder if we can move this thread to it's own current entertainment page with the others since this is a major show during the main summer season.
