I absolutely agree that the park has needed a new kids area forever. It was by a mile the most requested addition over at the GreatAdventureHistory forums after JDC was announced, but the pandemic hit and we never got to see anything from that JRA regime again.
I vividly remember those conversations, it’s insane that we’re nearly 7 years past JDC’s announcement and we still have nothing on that front.

The last new kids ride was Big Red Planes/Air Safari, 19 years ago. Nearly two decades between kids rides is inexcusable for a park of this caliber, but then again the park’s choices in general between 2010 and the end of 2024 were questionable at best.

I do hope that each addition comes with rethemes or updates that to the areas that they occupy (like the Boardwalk renovation). It would make the park a lot more inviting for thrill-seekers and families alike. To me, the feel of a park improves the experience a lot.

With the new utility markers under Batman’s lift hill and the closure of Jersey Devil BBQ, I think we’re getting closer to a full Nitro re-theme and Queue overhaul. If they remove the BBQ building, that gives a ton of space for a new ride entrance plaza and maybe a new flag ride to extended the Pine Barrens out towards Nitro

I agreed, make nitro be part of pine barrens area and have a storyline for nitro (and remove that game stand between movietown & pine barrens while they at it and replace fatburger & primos pizza as the new location for the bbq) and rebrand jr thrillseekers as camp snoopy (the current looney tunes area dropped its national park theming in favor of the theming that is coming to magic mountain)

If they have to retheme I could get on board with them just slapping on an extra two signs so it reads ᵗʳⁱ⁻NITRO₋ₜₒₗᵤₑₙₑ. New generic military secret weapon theme and that's good enough for me. They probably should take the opportunity to play into the adjacency of such huge military installations but something tells me that's too specific. I just think it needs paint and it's hard to imagine a new paint scheme for it tbh....... that yellow pink and blue has been burned into my retinas by RCT2

I'll agree that the pathing through that area of the park is quite tight and the layout is awkward, but I think that's primarily the result of Batman's really intrusive, slapdash placement. Hard to really, fully address this area of the park until Batman is eventually retired in my opinion. Depending on what its service life is lookin' like, I may even argue against doing much of anything in this corner of the park until Batman's time comes.

Yea I can see what you mean. Honestly, though, it's hard for me to view Batman's placement as "slapdash" considering it's been there nearly 35 years with everything else having changed around it. It's definitely awkward, though, considering how things have developed. I think the more likely thing is that Congo Rapids will be retired first (it's the oldest of its kind, after all), and that would open up a lot more space over there for a theoretical revamp / retheme of the surrounding area.

I’m kinda shocked it’s lasted this long honestly, back when SF was running each of the BTR clones backwards I assumed it was because they’d be removing them shortly after

It’s got another 5-10 years left if I had to guess. You make a really good point though, as I’m trying to imagine what the area would look like without Batman there and I feel like it’s removal would inadvertently solve a lot of those issues

The rapids being removed would definitely help access, bus as-is, it's kinda just Seaport Eats that's in the way of widening that bottleneck.

My hope <3 and Dream 😍 would be to see one of Intamin's new gen rapids rides there. Will it ever happen? No, especially not with the issues Amazonia at Bellewaerde had. But they're significantly more compact than the originals and very unique for a dry park water ride and I had to explain its presence in this screenshot. Regardless, the end of the current rapids will leave a sizeable plot for expansion that they could route into fairly easily roughly along the blue line:

It would just leave Seaport eats as a weird island.

I would through a really unique idea out there that I know 100% will NEVER happen:
“Turn” Batman 90 degrees and push it “back” some so its lift hill is over Nitro for a cool interaction. Keeps the coaster and opens a MASSIVE plot of land to have better pathways back to that corner.

That also frees up space for a better Nitro/Rethemed Batman plaza, a few flats, and better pathway flow.

I would honestly be surprised if the Batclones weren't retracked when their service life ends. I feel like they're still generally popular and they're not so big that the price to retrack would be a non-starter. I could be totally wrong though as I don't believe there's any public knowledge of what these full retrack projects from B&M tend to cost.

Looking at that screenshot, I also think if they are redoing the kids area to fit into the pine barrens theme (camp snoopy? A kids area upgrade is long overdue and I think what we can reasonably expect next) then they should add a snoopy’s racing railway-esque ride near the blue line to finally fill in the land left over from the flume. (Or a family boomerang so we can get another shuttle lol)

iirc the additions mentioned on the survey were a flats package (the one we’re getting this year) a family coaster of some sort (not sure if barrels o fun is that coaster or if it’s something else that is coming in the future) the drop tower and a kids area.

I think the drop tower and kids area are what we should reasonably assume are on the the way next

If we're gonna see the 400 foot drop tower to replace Zumanjaro, I sure would love to see something like Dragonwatch at Toverland to replace Parachuter's Perch as well. ofc the ride type itself has precedent at Great Adventure, and any resemblance to the iconic Parachute Jump at Coney Island would be very boardwalky
