Moon Chaser/Top Spin was always meant as a temporary attraction, park management has gone on record to say this. The old swinging ship was well... very old and that's an essential attraction to have. Very inclusive, family friendly, and eats people. Huss helped them secure a used Top Spin off of the European fair circuit in the interim while they worked on a custom replacement Pirate Ship, it's since been sold back on to the American fairs (very big deal). Being able to market another ride for two seasons instead of having an empty plot sitting around is always a nice incentive. Yeah it was a thrill ride at a park that really didn't have many, but that's also not really their focus either. Only doing two max swings though is more indicative on the park being dumb, hopefully the programming can change with time.
The Top Spin could have also been an experiment into how big inverting thrill rides would be received at a family park. Paultons Park didn't something similar a few years ago by throwing a Zamperla Discovery into the mix, and when they concluded that their target audience was receiving it well they commissioned a Eurofighter. If Moon Chaser saw similar guest feedback then the park could always lean towards a more permanent inverting thrill ride.
Wave Twister L is a complicated prototype and it's been running like garbage, absolutely squealing at high volume on the track. Definitely something RES needs to be looking into.
