We know based on the Glenwood Caverns bankruptcy situation that a lot of people are interested in parks right now. They got 21 different investment proposals or something crazy like that, right? The park market looks hot, hot, hot right now to me.
Would it be strange to suggest that the SF/CF merger opened lanes for smaller FEC/Park Brands (not sure what else to call them) to grow?

I feel like the new SF venture was always going to need to downsize and we’re not going to look to add to the portfolio so when situation like that came up new interested buyers could step forward.

This probably should be another thread of its own… but would it hurt for KD to be part of that deal too? They seem to regularly be getting the shaft under the new SF company.

The only thing is that I’d hate to see KI and KD separated.
maybe they make a last minute decision and six flags keeps kings dominion (this is what happened with magic mountain 2006)

"Oh I have a spare second amidst all today's chaos, I'll just check Parkfan-- What the fuck? HUH?"

This Seibert and Herschend stuff seems to be, at bare minimum, a credible rumor. I did notice, however, that he left the Over Texas Junkies FB group... he was a very frequent poster there. What a fucking shame.

As for Herschend... holy expansion, Batman! I am a little concerned about their rapid growth - I don't want another Six Flags/Premier Parks situation to happen - but the word that they're only looking at the two parks gives me some relief. If they were looking at any more parks, I would be concerned... but I must admit, I would love to see them get New England, revert it back to Riverside Park and get rid of all that DC shite.

So if, big if, a Fiesta Texas sale is being looked into... And if, big if, Jeffrey Siebert is departing the company...

I don't think it's entirely outlandish to believe Siebert has more of an attachment to SFFT than SFEC. Maybe he gets offered the park president position at Over Texas, but without his brainchild park in the chain's long term plans, the opportunity is less attractive? If a Fiesta Texas sale is indeed in the cards, perhaps Jeffrey takes a gamble and assumes he'll be a front runner for a high level position there once the new ownership group comes in (a very fair assumption)... Kind of fits, no?

Looking at the list of parks that don't have presidents...

-California's Great America is on the way out the door, so it makes no sense to create a new position there at this point in time. I wouldn't be surprised if the park closes after this season, and I would be very surprised if it somehow doesn't close after next season.
-Darien Lake and Frontier City are owned by EPR and will probably join Enchanted sooner rather than later. Given that, it'd be a waste of resources trying to do anything with those properties.
-Dorney Park, Kings Dominion, and New England have all received very recent investment and thus likely don't have a whole lot in the pipeline. Additionally, they likely aren't big enough revenue generators to be prioritized by the chain when it comes to investing in discretionary projects. Thus, adding a new position to oversee the property more directly when that individual will likely have limited ability to actually make substantial changes doesn't make a ton of sense even if they aren't being considered for sale. If the sale rumor is actually true, however, I will say a Herschend grab of these makes a huge amount of sense as it would link together their east coast properties very nicely.
-Discovery Kingdom is in a bit of an odd position, and I have a feeling this is the park the chain is most unsure on at the moment. Everything I've heard points toward the park's ability to pull in visitors from CGA's current market as critical to its future within the Six Flags chain, so I wouldn't be surprised if they're waiting until they know what they're doing here before putting a president in charge. It's also possible they have someone in mind from CGA, but need them to stay in their current role this season before moving over once the season ends.
-Fiesta Texas is the head scratcher in all this, because by all indications this would be one Six Flags would want to keep. Is it possible they simply haven't decided who to appoint? Is it possible they don't feel the park needs a president for whatever reason? Is it possible there's an interested buyer and they're going to consider that offer, thus they don't want to invest in scouting if they might be selling it? I think any of those are very realistic scenarios at the moment.
-Mexico I don't know enough about to speculate on, but if it is being offloaded I'm going to guess it's separate from any other potential deals going on.
