I forgot to mention this earlier. I received an email from Kings Dominion Thursday and they will be using one or more of my "Golden Years" photos on their KDTV this season!

I am not sure if this is just for the history photo montage around the Eiffel Tower and/or the new park wide TV system being installed this year.

Congrats, mwhinva! I look forward to seeing them... well, next week! :D

Nora was telling me that they emailed her letting her know that one of her's would be in there too. KD really has handled this whole thing very well. Good on them.

You mean... theme parks can actually contact their fans when necessary? Seems like a novel concept.

Taking shots again Joe? Your little jabs and stabs are gonna upset somebody :) BTW, I knew nothing of a park-wide TV system being installed.

I make references when I see fit. :p

Anyway, what is this new TV system? Big TV's being installed all over the park displaying different KD40 memorabilia? Hmm...

These TV systems are being installed in most, if not all, parks in the Cedar Fair chain for 2014. I believe, in one of the corporate 3rd/4th quarter meetings or in one of the investor conferences, a Cedar Fair spokesperson stated these TV's would be in places like ride queue lines and so forth. They did state up front that the TV programming would not be filled with blatant sponsor commercials ... Cough ... Six Flags ... cough ...

Cedar Fair would be more subtle in the nature and number of any commercials shown. They were not certain, at that point, what the full TV content would be. I assume for KD, they could show some of the history of the park; they could feature information about the restaurants and shops in the park including what they serve or sell as well as any food specials or sales going on. Information about the rides in the park and interesting statistics. They could feature the entertainment performing at the park and clips of the shows and the show schedules. They could have programming on safety regulations and height restrictions. Plus, they could be used if any emergencies happen or if bad weather is approaching the park.

I guess we are going to have to wait and see what they do with the TV system. It does appear they do not want the TV network to be all commercial content.

Excerpt from the 3rd quarter Cedar Fair press release under the "Outlook" Section:

"The success of our 2013 operating season also provides us with the financial flexibility to make additional investments in long-term growth opportunities," said Ouimet. "In 2014, this will include the addition of our very popular cottages and cabins at select parks, along with an in-park TV network that will provide additional entertainment for our guests. We remain committed to strategically deploying capital to generate the highest returns for our unitholders in both the short- and long-term. We believe the continued strength of our business model, combined with strategic capital investments, will allow us to generate higher revenues and ultimately achieve our FUNforward long-term growth goal of $450 million in Adjusted EBITDA earlier than our original target of 2016."

Thanks for the information! It will have to be some quality content to pry the people away from their 'devices' :) (Not a simple task these days)

My thoughts so far: amazing. Simply amazing. I cannot wait to (hopefully) visit next weekend! Big thanks to Evan for the pictures!

From what I've seen everything is absolutely beautiful. They still aren't quite ready, and done with everything, yet, but it still is amazingly beautiful. KDGY just posted a picture of Crypt missing its entire ride vehicle.
