How long did the Globe sit empty during summer before LR?

Pirates 3D ended toward the end of 2013's season and LR started middle of 2014's season so it was empty for about a year.

[...] Last time I saw a video from anyone of a German show in the Festhaus on the Entwined stage, it looked like the singers/band were forced to use 'someone elses' stage.  It looked 'forced' and 'awkward'.  Shouldn't be like that.  It should look like THEIR stage.  It's supposed to be a German festival theme, after all.[...]

This is a great point. I never really thought of it like that. The problem, however, is the same as with London Rocks: the set. It was very expensive.

The set designer of Entwined 2013-2014 and ROTB (Dana Kenn) is also a rather high-profile artist. She was a Co Set Designer and is still the Associate Set Designer for Phantom of The Opera. She also designed the set for Twas That Night in 2015. The rest of the set was completed by Tom Cluff (All For One) in 2016 based off of some of her designs.

When the park pays for something that expensive, they intend (and are expected by corporate) to use it to its full potential. Unfortunately, we are still stuck with a few drastically over-spent things from the Gasparich-era which the park doesn't want to get rid of just yet. Just look at Circo Sinistro (all large puppets from The Legend of Killarney, parts of the Ripper Row facade, etc.

We are essentially going through an "entertainment department detox". Thankfully, the worst of it should be over soon

If LR is no more and the Globe sits empty this year, plus the last season of Celtic Fyre, maybe something in the Festhaus, will MIU return? These all add up to a lackluster 2017. Maybe BG is setting up for a whole new 2018. I really hope they're not going in a direction like KD and eliminating entertainment.

Huh? "Mix It Up" is in San Marco and has been there since it's debut, you must mean "This Is Oktoberfest!" right? That's the one I'm hoping that makes a comeback. I highly doubt that they're getting rid of entertainment since they spent a lot of money on "All For One" last year so that should give you an idea of what the current entertainment team wants in the grand scheme of things.

Celtic Fyre I think, at this point wants a very long run just like "This Is Oktoberfest!" did. It's a very popular show attracting high attendance every year it's considered by the GP as a classic so I don't think it's leaving anytime soon.

How certain are we that Celtic Fyre is on its final season?

Also, I'd personally love for Haunts of the Old Country to return. :D

As much as some people would like to see 4-D movies again, so much work has gone into getting the Globe to be a live show venue again that reverting it back to those movies would seem like a step backwards.

^ Exactly. That, and they want to get their money's worth.

On the topic of the show in Das Festhaus: at first I thought "Oh! I love good/traditional yodeling." Then I realized "Oh! I really don't like bad American portraits of yodeling." So, that might be something to think about.

The kind of yodeling that I'm thinking of is probably too classy and authentic for most Americans/Busch Gardens. The artist, Franz Lang is a great example of the type of yodeling that I am talking about.

^I agree. I think out of all the shows in each of the sections in Busch Gardens Williamsburg, it's always Germany that's the toughest to pull off well. To me it falls into two categories: well made tribute (This is Oktoberfest!) or downright offensive (Wunderbarn).

The below info is from the parks website. It's listed under "What's New".

New Shows

Two special shows also join the Summer Nights line-up. Britmania™, a new musical revue featuring British hits from the 1960s to today, debuts June 30, and will be performed throughout the day in the Globe Theatre. Busch Gardens also will debut a new show in Das Festhaus® on March 31. The yet-to-be-named show will feature traditional German music and dances, with a modern twist, offering diners a fun Oktoberfest experience every day.

New Event: Summer Nights

In July and August, Busch Gardens becomes a cooler place after dark during Summer Nights, presented by Coca-Cola®. Special entertainment, culinary experiences and a fun nighttime atmosphere will give guests a new reason to visit during summer evenings.

Summer Saturdays will be even more special with Summer Nights Concerts, featuring popular rock, pop, country and contemporary Christian performers live under the stars in the Royal Palace Theatre. Confirmed acts include 38 Special, Josh Turner, MercyMe, Jeremy Camp and Rend Collective, with additional names to be announced. Concerts are free with park admission.

The main page of their site now has a drawing that features InvadR and it states it's to open in April.

"Britmania" sounds much more promising than "London Rocks" ever was but I guess we'll have to wait and see come June 30th. As for the new Festhaus show, I guess "traditional German music and dances" sounds great but the "with a modern twist" statement has me a little concerned. Hopefully Phil Raybourn and Pete Dunklee will have the skills to pull this off.

Good thing those concerts at the Royal Palace Theater will only last for a limited time for the site also says that "All For One will return this season". 2017 sounds great, not just Invadr opening in April (if the ride doesn't get delayed), but TWO new shows is the best bonus ever.

I guess this can go to the News thread now that it's been confirmed.

Good. I hope it's better than the trainwreck that became of London Rocks. God I wish they'd kept it the same as the first season.

Very excited to hear this news! It's about time! The fairytale thing was a good idea in theory but it came off cheesy and obnoxious. Hopefully this will be fun and more authentic to the environment.

So no more Illuminights? What about the Food and Wine Festival?

They do summer nights over in Tampa too! Can't wait to see how it will do.

I think you misunderstood...I know MIU is in San Marco, the point I was trying to make is: will MIU return? It seems each year their season gets shorter (starts late/ ends early) and the show gets watered down (less songs, less performers, etc.).

Many rumors have been swirling around (since mid-last season) that Celtic Fyre will perform it's final season this year. It may be a fan favorite, but it's had a very long run. Plus those performers are some of the highest paid and considering some of the budget cuts...

The way the announcement it worded it kind of gives me a feeling that's it may in the same vein as American Jukebox was. This wouldn't bother me at all as having it be about the music with some good dancing to the songs should make it enjoyable like AJ always used to be. This is almost what LR degenerated into last year.
