RE: New Globe Show for 2014

I think they need to renovate the whole theatre and put something new in it. It would be a great idea for them to use the 4d to their advantage and put a nice show in their. And to who ever said 4d was a thing of the past, What are they supposed to do invent 6d?!!!

I think guests would prefer to do something at a theme park that they could do nowhere else, 4D shows are easily the cheapest attractions at a park and for good reason, the effects are cheap, the acting is often bad, and the movie usually has no plot and tries to live off the effects. when 4D came out it was revolutionary and popular, but now that every 1 in 4 movies are 3D, guests are tired of it.

Plus, now they have technology now that lets them add more "depth" to the scene via multiple projector systems. If done right it works very well. See Iceploration, that's a good example of what I mean. The Globe Theatre has much potential.

I've heard the new show is to be a British invasion themed live concert featuring songs from the 60's/70's. London Britches is being remodeled into a gift shop dedicated to merchandise for the show. The plan was for it to be launched in 2013, but the last I heard, it was being bumped to 2014.

I can confirm. Which brings us back to this.

NOTE: There was another proposed possibility for the new Globe show that I heard about as well; however, all recent signs are pointing to what Shafor posted being true.

I found this show on YouTube in 3 parts. It was performed last year, (2012), at Kings Island. And it was called "British Invasion". The show is broken into 3 main sections (and the person that filmed the show broke it into 3 videos to match).

Part I is primarily Beatles music. Part II is a melody of other 60's/70's British recording artists. Part III is an Elton John selection of music. The show production values might not be to Busch Entertainment standards. But, I thought this show has pretty strong cast performing.

Part I: http://youtu.be/1CPczct3XPQ
Part II: http://youtu.be/0aIRT7qZx60
Part III: http://youtu.be/QbNIy0-sps4

I assume you want a show that is similar to this?

RE: New Globe Show for 2014

^^ I don't think they were referring to a particular show, more or less the theme of the show. But this is something we can look at and say that would be neat if they did that, or that sucks depending on our views of that particular show.

RE: New Globe Show for 2014

I love British music. The Beatles, Duran Duran, The Who, Queen, The Clash, David Bowie, Moody Blues, The Police/ Sting, Genesis/ Phil Collins, Eurythmics/ Annie Lenoxx, Yes, Radiohead, Depeche Mode, Cat Stevens, Peter Gabriel, The Rolling Stones, Coldplay, Elton John, The Kinks, Muse, Mumford & Sons, and the list goes on and on. Britain is a huge part of Musical History and I would love to see the park tap into that!

Excuse me... I am going to wander off as I now have an urge to listen to all of the above artists on my "British" playlist.

Ha ha-love the image - silly Joey from the 90s sitcoms. nah~ you guys worry too much. Everything is always speculation until it is said and done. I will continue to have faith that if any renovations are done this year, the next, or whenever, will be done with quality and respect.

Trust me, there are concepts floating around internally that don't fall into either of those categories. :-/

I saw that yesterday and that made me really angry. I don't know why, but that move sounds too much like something Cedar Fair or Six Flags would do.

RE: New Globe Show for 2014

But it shouldn't be a surprise - this is a business decision. They don't have a ton of their own creative properties to use, so they need to license someone else's. And they get something with a built-in audience and broader appeal than something they could develop in-house (see Entwined). They are getting something that is higher quality than they can develop on their own, AND the rights to use it across all parks (Entwined would not make sense anywhere else, but this seems like a show that they could fit in anywhere with a generic "vacation" theme) It's the same thing with Sesame Street. From my perspective, my kids would probably rather see this show, with familiar characters they like and better quality (hopefully) than anything else Busch could develop on their own for kids.

Of course, this is all making the leap that they would expand this to Williamsburg, which is just at the rumor stage at this point, but clearly hinted at in the press for this announcement. Who knows what they will do?

RE: New Globe Show for 2014

yes it is very roomy in there and I have often wondered why it seems to only be used for parking strollers. I'm amazed it doesn't at least have a snack bar or something similar to the theater in Ireland.
