As we count down to opening day of Great Adventure’s 50th, today we highlight the Pretty Monster.



Pretty Monster was a Schwarzkopf Monster/Polyp flat ride, and was one of the opening day rides. It was the first of three monster/octopus style flat rides to reside in the park. The ride was relocated for the 1976 season and took in the name Dream Street Dazzler until it was removed at the end of the 1977 season and was replaced by the Monster Spin (Schwarzkopf Polyp) in 1978.

Why Schwarzkopf named the model after a type of tumor is beyond me,, still have yet to try one though.

They had another ride (which we had at Great Adventure) called a Junk, but that was named for a type of Chinese boat.
